WiMedia’s Goals Promote easy to use wireless communications

with a focus on multimedia capable environments. Walk in, turn it on and it works.

Create specifications that leverage standards-based technologies: Match existing/emerging standards to market

opportunities. Focus on the adoption of 802.15.3(a) as the market

driver. Create liaison role with complementary organizations. Drive the development of specifications and standards

essential to deliver WiMedia certified products. Establish a certification and logo program.

AV Cluster Profiles• Streaming Media

– Video (compressed & uncompressed)– Audio (surround sound systems)

• Connection Management & Device Discovery– Native Discovery (minimal but useful)– Higher Level should leverage existing protocol

(such as: uPnPv2)

• IP Specification– Investigation to understand any issues in deployment of IP

stack and services on top of a 802.15.3(a) platform.

• Digital Imaging and Printing – Will be resumed after IP investigation.
