Tuesday Sound: z focus words:

zap, zipActivities:1. Watch the video2. Pretend to be a superhero and zap a baddie with a lazer, say z,z,z,z,z,z, zap!3. Watch again, pause on the words, read the words zap, zip using your robot arms eg: z-a-p, z-i-p.4. Write z 5 times, can you spell zap, zip?Challenge: Read and answer the question, Can a yak zip up a zip? (adult to write the question in advance)

Wednesday Sound: zz focus words:

ThursdaySound: qu Focus words:

quack, quick,Activities:1. Watch the video2. Pretend to be a duck and say, qu,qu,qu, quack, quack!!3. Watch again, pause on the words, talk about the fact there are 2 letters making the qu sound (we call this a digraph, - can you spot the other digraph in the words (ck)? Read quack, quick, use your robot arms qu-a-ck, qu-i-ck.4. Write qu 5 times. Can you spell quack, quick?Challenge: write the sentence. The duck can quack or I can quack like a duck. Friday Sounds: y, z, zz, qu.Recap all.

Focus words:

Activities:1. Watch all the videos or just the ones of the sounds you’re not confident with, again.2. Make flashcards of the sounds/print off from letter and sounds website (see above) say the sounds, write them, make them with sticks, pasta, etc. Create characters or pictures for the different sounds.3. Make a matching game - write all the words on pieces of paper/card, find pairs of words that start/finish with the same sound.
