Biography

Dominic L. Santana, known as "Young Gent" in the music world, hails from Fayetteville North Carolina where he began to develop as an artist. Raised by only his mother he and his family dealt with an array of struggles to survive coming up. With his mother working constantly to support her children, this left time and opportunity for Young Gent to explore his depressing surroundings. Growing up in neighborhoods filled with drugs, violence, and broken dreams. As he witnessed many things take place that may have scarred some others, it begin to shape what Young Gent is today.

As he came into his late teens he began to play into the statistics of his surroundings by participating in activities in the streets deemed unacceptable by society in conditions in which society created. After living an undercover life of criminality, several events changed his way of thinking and the direction of his life.

Poetry, which he once held as a secret outlet to release thoughts and emotions begin to take on another form for him. He began flowing with the same energy and concepts over music. People around him began to take notice and encouraged him to pursue music with passion and determination.

Being a lover of many different types of music Dominic began experimenting with different forms of music placing rap on a back burner, for fear that rapping certain lyrics constantly would drive him back into a life he had turned down.

Fortunately for hip-hop lovers time passed and he grew mentally and spiritually and was able to face his fear of returning to a life of hatred, anger, and carelessness toward his community and fellow man. Instead he has become able to rap about his experiences and have fun with it while entertaining listeners with witty punch lines, cunning delivery, smart lyrics, impressive arrangements, and a presence that is felt even through speakers.

Now a resident of Wilmington, NC he has developed into a formidable asset to the music industry. He is an arranger, composer, performer, writer and even an actor. Starring in the wildly successful cult Classic "Love For Sale" alongside Mya, Jackie Long, Essence Atkins etc and such movies as "Dead Heist", "Furnace", "The 27 Club", "20 Funerals"(presently in stores) and also appearing on TV in "One Tree Hill", "Palmetto Pointe", "Grand Strand," "Whittaker Bay" and more.

His up and coming roster of films is also impressive including "Bolden" and others in the summer. Dominic has become a multimedia performer and business man, with music still as his first and foremost love.
