Now the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to the bosom of Abraham. The rich man also died and was buried. 'In his torment in Hades he looked up and saw Abraham a long way off with Lazarus in his bosom. So he cried out, "Father Abraham, pity me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in agony in these flames." "My son," Abraham replied "remember that during your life good things came your way, just as bad things came the way of Lazarus. Now he is being comforted here while you are in agony. But that is not all: between us and you a great gulf has been fixed, to stop anyone, if he wanted to, crossing from our side to yours, and to stop any crossing from your side to ours." 'The rich man replied, "Father, I beg you then to send Lazarus to my father's house, since I have five brothers, to give them warning so that they do not come to this place of torment too." "They have Moses and the prophets," said Abraham, "let them listen to them." "Ah, no, father Abraham," said the rich man "but if someone comes to them from the dead, they will repent." Then Abraham said to him, "If they will not listen either to Moses or to the prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone should rise from the dead."' The Gospel of the Lord. GOSPEL: Luke 16:19-31

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke During your life good things came your way just as bad things came the way of Lazarus. Now he is being comforted while you

are in agony.

Jesus said to the Pharisees: 'There was a rich man who used to dress in purple and fine linen

and feast magnificently every day. And at his gate there lay a poor man called Lazarus, covered with

sores, who longed to fill himself with the scraps that fell from the rich man's table. Dogs even came and

licked his sores. Now the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to the bosom of Abraham.

The rich man also died and was buried.

'In his torment in Hades he looked up and saw Abraham a long way off with Lazarus in his

bosom. So he cried out, "Father Abraham, pity me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water

and cool my tongue, for I am in agony in these flames." "My son," Abraham replied "remember that

during your life good things came your way, just as bad things came the way of Lazarus. Now he is

being comforted here while you are in agony. But that is not all: between us and you a great gulf has

been fixed, to stop anyone, if he wanted to, crossing from our side to yours, and to stop any crossing

from your side to ours."

'The rich man replied, "Father, I beg you then to send Lazarus to my father's house, since I have

five brothers, to give them warning so that they do not come to this place of torment too." "They have

Moses and the prophets," said Abraham, "let them listen to them." "Ah, no, father Abraham," said the

rich man "but if someone comes to them from the dead, they will repent." Then Abraham said to him,

"If they will not listen either to Moses or to the prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone

should rise from the dead."'

The Gospel of the Lord.

Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Social Justice Sunday

We celebrate Social Justice Sunday on 29th September. This year, the Australian Bishops’ Social Justice Statement is titled: ‘Making it Real: Genuine human encounter in our digital world’. It shares Pope Francis’ challenge to us to ‘boldly become citizens of the digital world’. It points out that we are called not just to be inhabitants of this world, but active citizens shaping it. For further details about the Social Justice Statement, visit www.socialjustice.catholic.org.au or call 8306 3499. Order the statement online at: bit.ly/socialjusticeshop Follow us on Facebook: @socialjusticeACBC ot Twitter: @JusticeCatholic

The St Felix Feast Day Celebrations

This year, our Parish will mark the Feast Day of St Felix de Valois with a special Mass to be held on Sunday 17th November, 2019 at 10am.

Following the Eucharist, you are invited to join in a celebration of our Multicultural community with an International Food Fair where you will be able to taste sweet and savoury delicacies from the various nationalities represented in our community. We will have a flag and signage on each stall to showcase those represented.

We are seeking donations of food items from different cultures to contribute to this initiative.

If you are willing to participate, please contact our Feast Day representative: Aurora on 0428755022.

Funeral Details

A long time parishioner, Mr John (Jack) Lopez passed away last week. His funeral will be held in

the Church on Monday 30/9/19 commencing at 10am.

Talk with your children about some of the things that they have that can be shared with

others. Ask your children to describe a time when they had to share something that they had. Ask

if this was easy or difficult and why. Talk about some of ways in which your family shares your

possessions. Read together today's Gospel, Luke 16:19-31. Consider together some reasons why the

rich man may not have shared his riches with the poor man, Lazarus. Identify some reasons why we

might share our possessions with others. Make a commitment as a family to do something this week in

which you will choose to share your possessions with someone in need.

New Child Protection Resources

The Safeguarding & Ministerial Integrity Office of the Sydney Archdiocese have developed two

new Safeguarding resources for children. The Caring Code Journey is an interactive resource that

mimics the snakes & ladders game aimed at children aged btn 5-12yrs. It allows them to engage in

discussions with others about positive & challenging behaviours. The Behavioural Code for Young

People provides young people aged btn 13-17yrs who participate in ministries, a list of expected

behaviours. It also provides open & transparent steps & actions that a Youth Leader would follow if

inappropriate behaviour is displayed in an effort to resolve the issue. Both these resources can be

found in the Church foyer. We as a Parish continue to support the efforts of the Safeguarding Office to

ensure that our Parish environment is safe for children and young people. For more information and to

access these resources online visit https://www.sydneycatholic.org/safeguarding-and-child-protection/
