From the Principal’s Desk

A very warm welcome back to school for what will be a fabulous, jam packed term 2!!

We have been so fortunate with the weather allowing us to run an incredibly successful House Cross Country. Well

done to all of the participants and sincere thanks to the staff and volunteers that made this event so successful. What a

team!!! Home, school and community partnerships at their best!!

On Friday the 20th of April, the school captains ran the ANZAC whole school assembly. As a staff, we have never been

more proud of the captains or of the whole school as they listened attentively and were completely respectful during

the one-minute silence. You could have heard a pin drop. Well done everyone.

The Grade 6 students left for their camp to Canberra on Monday morning and arrived safely. They have enjoyed a full

itinerary and taken part in the Dawn Service at the Canberra War Memorial. The next newsletter will have many stories

and photos from the camp. We look forward to their return and hearing about what they learnt and the life long

memories they have forged.

Our clubs are up and running on Thursdays afternoons. It is delightful to see so many children participate in activities

such as public speaking, knitting, doing their homework, science, dance, singing and more. The clubs provide a rich

multi-age learning environment that gives our students opportunities to try new things and develop new skills and

themselves personally.

NAPLAN Boot Camp is a new initiative that we are doing this year. Thanks to Mrs Long and Miss Epskamp for running

these before school sessions. I know that this will help our students to gain confidence in their abilities and help prepare

them for the tests in May.

Education Week, May 21st – 25th promises to be a very exciting week. The teachers, in their Professional Learning

Communities are planning creative activities that we will share with you in coming weeks. We hope to see many of you

as you watch and share the learning journey of our children with us. Throughout Education Week we will have three

open mornings and school tours every day at 9:30 am. On Tuesday the 22nd there will be an information evening for

prospective parents. More information will follow. Please encourage as many people as possible to become a part of

this very busy and energetic week.

Enjoy reading this packed newsletter that provides a glimpse into life at

What a great start to Term 2! Some Year 3 and Year

5 students were very eager and excited to participate

in the NAPLAN boot camp sessions. Mrs Long

operated the Year 3 boot camp whilst Miss Epskamp operated the Year 5 boot camp.

Thank you to all the parents who dropped their children off on time so that they could

participate in their studies. During the session students had a mixture of experiences with

NAPLAN. Students revised some language convention questions, Numeracy grid questions and

money problems. Students also completed some online NAPLAN questions too.

Parents if you have any questions about NAPLAN boot camp please come and see Mrs Long or

Miss Epskamp. We would be more than happy to answer any questions.

For those who cannot attend NAPLAN boot camp or attended and would like some extra

revision please visit the sites listed below.

SCHOOL EASTER BONNET

PARADE On the 29th of March Doncaster Primary School held their school Easter Bonnet Parade on

the basketball court. It was lovely to see so many parents come together as a community to

watch the parade. Some Doncaster Primary School students were very lucky to have seen

the Easter bunny. The students were very excited to see that the Easter bunny had hopped

around the classrooms and left his footprints behind. The students did an outstanding job

of decorating their Easter Bonnets. We hope everyone enjoyed the school holidays and is

excited for Term 2.
