Mahogany The mahogany Portobello and Legacy Series is a stunning design series of traditional, exquisite doors. Mahogany is a red-brown hardwood used primarily for only the highest grade of wood doors. Mahogany will vary from rich golden to deep red-brown colors and has a beautiful finish when stained and sealed. See pages 10 & 11 for photos of GlassCraft’s mahogany factory finish options.

Knotty Alder The knotty alder EstanciaR Series is a charming rustic design series of beautiful and desirable doors. Knotty alder is an American hardwood, growing in the west from California to northern Alaska. Knotty alder offers a beautiful “closed pore” grain and has a beautiful finish when stained and sealed. See pages 10 & 11 for photos of GlassCraft’s knotty alder factory finish options.

Please note: that mahogany and knotty alder, like all hardwood species, vary in color, graining, and appearance . This variance is one of the natural features of a true wood door and adds to the beauty and appearance of a real wood door.

Knotty Alder Estancia SeriesThe knotty alder Estancia series doors are 1-3/4˝ thick (6’-8” or 8’-0” exterior doors and 8’- 0˝ interior doors), and are constructed using “engineered” stiles and rails to help prevent warping. Some 8 foot tall Plank doors are also available in a 2-1/4˝ thick option. These stiles and rails have a 3mm - 5mm thick (nominal) laminate face, engineered stiles and rails to virtually eliminate warping, plus extra wide stiles, wide-raised moldings on the door exterior and a stave core made of solid alder wood. Door panels for the 1-3⁄4˝ thick doors are 1-1⁄8˝ thick and are constructed using a 3-piece assembly that incorporates a “cross-grained” spline in the core to eliminate panel splitting. Doors are assembled using an authentic doweled cove-and-bead technique.

Estancia doors also feature a wide variety of intricate decorative glass panel options with Black, Satin Nickel and Oil Rubbed Bronze metal caming and a large selection of wrought iron grille options with Antique Black, Antique Bronze and Antique Pewter color selections available.

Please note: 2-Panel Estancia style 8’-0” and 6’-8” tall doors on page 30 do not include raised molding. Raised molding may be added to any 2-Panel Estancia door as an option.

Mahogany Portobello Series The mahogany Portobello series of doors and entryways offers an extensive selection with numerous options. 1-3/4˝ thick Portobello door and sidelite profiles are available in 6 foot 8 inch and 8 foot tall heights in 32˝, 36˝, and 42˝ wide door sizes. Standard sidelites are available in 12˝ and 14˝ widths matching both the 6’-8” and 8’-0” tall doors. Some 8’-0” tall mahogany Plank and single round top doors are also avail-able in a 2-1/4˝ thick option. Matching transoms are available for most designs. Mahogany Legacy Series The Legacy Series is a “builders series” of economical mahogany doors, offering a more limited selection and fewer options than the Portobello series. With the exception of the 8 foot 2-Panel and 6-Panel Legacy doors, all other Legacy doors are 6 foot 8 inches tall by 36 inches wide. Like the Portobello and Estancia doors, all Legacy doors feature laminated, engineered stiles and rails, with raised moldings on the exterior side of the door, plus 3-layer engineered panels to prevent panel splits. Glass options for Legacy doors include Black and Satin Nickel metal came options. Sidelights and transoms are not available for Legacy Series doors.

Warranty and Overhang InformationThe exposure to environmental conditions is a dominant factor in a wood door’s lifespan. Not all appli-cations are appropriate for wood doors; wood doors require protection from environmental conditions and must be installed in a protected opening with adequate roof overhang. The minimum roof over-hang needed is one in which the roof overhang projects out a distance from the structure no less than one-half of the elevation difference between the bottom edge of the door and the base of the over-hang’s highest point above the entryway. GlassCraft’s TDL “True Divided Lite” collection provides a selection of classic French doors and stylish Prairie and Craftsman doors — all with beautiful and rich woodgrains. The TDL Series of mahogany and knotty alder doors will complement a wide range of architectural styles. TDL doors in this catalog do not use simulated divided lites. The TDL doors feature both double insulated, low emissivity “Low-E” glass panels for security, strength, and energy efficiency and single glazzed double doors.

Doors feature laminated, engineered stiles and rails to virtually eliminate warping. Door panels are constructed using a 3-piece assembly that incorporates a “cross-grained” spline in the core to eliminate panel splitting. Doors are assembled using an authentic doweled cove-and-bead technique.

The TDL “True Divided Lite” Series with Low-E Options

Transom OptionsTransoms with decorative leaded glass, wrought iron grilles and TDL’s are available in sash-set configurations only. Sash-set transoms provide for the glass panel to be first installed into a wooden sash, which is then installed into the transom frame. This allows the transom sash to align with the doors or the sidelites below the transom.

Each transom is available in varying widths, depending upon the door or door and sidelite configuration below the transom. Transoms with wrought iron grilles installed are available in two sizes: one which fits above a 36˝ door and two 14˝ sidelites, and the second which fits above two 36˝ doors.

GlassCraft has developed the perfect environmentally friendly factory finish option for your door or complete entryway. Our exclusive 10-step finishing system applies beautifully colored wood stains and adds the multiple protective layers of crystal clear urethane finish coats.

Each coat is impregnated with ultraviolet UV-inhibitors and additional moisture blocking technology to keep your door looking beautiful. This system produces a finish to complement the inherent beauty of the mahogany and knotty alder wood species.

GlassCraft Door Company’s finish department is certified by the TCEQ (Texas Commission on Environmental Quality). The TCEQ‘s mission is to protect human and natural resources consistent with sustainable economic development, with a goal of clean air, clean water, and the safe management of waste. GlassCraft’s manufacturing finish facility is inspected and certified by the TCEQ (registration number CN603390188). Factory Finish Options

Traditional Finish Our traditional finish has been designed to maximize the beautiful rich mahogany and knotty alder woodgrains with a long-lasting clear coat. This 10-step finish process combines multiple coats of stain and clear topcoats with ultraviolet inhibitors to preserve the beautiful appearance of your door. The natural beauty of mahogany or knotty alder shines through with this timeless elegant wood finish option.

Distressed Finish Our distressed finish provides that special antique patina appearance to any door. Available in any of the six colors shown on the opposite page, this distressed finish adds the character of a favorite antique. Our 12-step process adds a texturized surface to include occasional indentations,pits, scores, and wormholes.

Use decorative door straps for installation onto the face of a door to give it a rustic or antique look. Door straps can be mounted on the interior, the exterior or both sides of a door. Straps may be used with or without the clavos shown on page 14. These door straps are hand-made and therefore vary slightly. Iron straps are pictured with Antique Black finish. Straps include handmade mounting nails. Each of the design series...Madrid and Florentine...include matching shaped L and T straps. The "L strap" is for square door corners, the "T strap" is for the door stile and cross rail joint, and the "angled / arched L and T strap" is for doors with curved cross or top rails. Examples of our wrought iron hinge strap and corner strap configurations can be found on page 13.

Multi-Point and One-Point Lock Sets Increase security and peace of mind with GlassCraft’s multi-point lock option with deadlocking tongues built to work with traditional grip hardware. Choose from one of the 4 multi-point handle set trim options with Satin Nickel or Oil Rubbed Bronze/Black finish colors.

Our multi-point lock set includes an anti-saw and kick-proof center dead bolt for maximum security and a 90-degree consumer friendly locking operation, so you visually know the door is locked when the dead bolt knob is in the horizontal position.

Multi-point locks work with standard GlassCraft flush bolts installed on the passive door of a pre-hung double door, which gives the homeowner the option to include dummy handle sets on the passive door with all multi-point lock sets.

Precision-engineered components reduce the need for service calls, providing years of trouble-free service. Adjustable strike plates allow for field adjustment.

One-point lock set option includes a standard double bore latch and dead bolt. All hardware is provided with Satin Nickel faceplates on multi-point and one-point lock sets.

Pre-hung Options GlassCraft doors in this catalog can be ordered as a pre-hung door unit. Pictures and part numbers for pre-hung doors are pictured under each door selection.

Pre-hung units include interior casing and brick mold, T-astragal (for double doors), sill cover, door sweep, weather-stripping, and adjustable threshold, plus 3 ball-bearing hinges on 6’-8” high doors and 4 ball-bearing hinges on 8’-0” high doors. Interior pre-hung door units do not include casing. Casing is available as an option for interior pre-hung door units.

Mahogany and knotty alder pre-hung arch top double doors have 3-1/4” interior casing. All other pre-hung units include 2-1/4” casing. Pre-hung units may be ordered unfinished or factory finished. See pages 10 & 11 for photos of available GlassCraft factory finish options. Pre-hung units are all produced using a continuous sill for added strength, weather and rot resistance and beauty. Pre-hung units are also constructed with or without sub-casing, at the customers request.

Pre-hung door units can be ordered with any of our standard double bore or multipoint locksets and handle set options. Multipoint locksets are installed into the active door panel for shipping. Handle sets, deadbolts and latches are shipped uninstalled, and packaged in a separate box to protect the hardware finish. Pre-hung doors may also be ordered for standard double bore locksets.

Jamb Options4-5⁄8˝ wide or 6-5⁄8˝ wide jamb sizes are available for exterior pre-hung door units. Door jambs, interior casing and brick mold, T-astragal and sub-casing are made from mahogany or knotty alder.

Our composite door bottom will work with standard door sweeps and can be trimmed up to one inch.

Decorative Straps, Clavos and V-Grooved Options See pages 12-14 for full details on GlassCraft’s hand-made decorative wrought iron hinge straps, L straps and T straps. Example drawings are available throughout this section.

Use the decorative door straps for installation onto the face of a door to give it a rustic or antique look. Door straps can be mounted on the interior, the exterior or both sides. Straps may be used with or without the clavos shown on page 14. These door straps are hand-made and therefore vary slightly. Iron straps include hand-made mounting nails. Examples of our wrought iron hinge straps and corner strap configurations can be found on page 13.

Iron straps, clavos and speakeasy grilles will be packaged separately and uninstalled on all unfinished GlassCraft door products so the door may be finished before the iron straps, clavos and speakeasy grilles are installed.

V-Groove Option GlassCraft door panels may be V-grooved. Many of the mahogany and knotty alder doors in this section of the catalog are available with the V-groove part numbers as a standard option. V-grooving gives a “plank” appearance to the door panel.

This popular detail adds a more rustic appearance to the door. The quantity of V-grooves varies with the width of the specific door.

Speakeasy Grille Option Most of our solid panel doors shown in this section may be ordered with our “speakeasy” option installed (see photo at right). With this option, a small, operable rectangular door is installed in the upper door panel at a height of approximately 5’-6” (speakeasies are installed lower on the round top double doors). This small door is hinged and latched from the interior side of the door. The speakeasies are available with two wrought iron grille designs.

Speakeasy Glass OptionsChoose from seven different glass texture options to complement your speakeasy and door. Glass textures shown are produced using a double insulated glass unit to provide safety, security, and energy efficiency. Speakeasies are also available with a solid wood door option, with or without a decorative grille. The capacity to see through the glass panel varies, depending upon the glass texture chosen. Baroque and Water glass options offer a light obscured view. Flemish and Fluted glass options offer a moderate level of obscured view. Rain and Glue Chip give the highest level of obscured view.

Grille and Hardware Color OptionsEach external wrought iron grille design has been crafted by artisans and is individually crafted by hand and will vary. This variance is a feature of wrought iron and adds to the beauty and appearance of the wrought iron grille. The hand-made wrought iron grilles are powder coated for durability.

The wrought iron grilles are available in 3 color options.

Crafted Glass Panels Offer Many Options

No one makes a better quality decorative glass panel for their doors and windows. Our decorative glass panels are Quality Crafted™ in our workshops to assure you of excellent craftsmanship and elegant design.

Our IG insulated glass panels improve security, are more energy efficient, easy to clean, and help to protect the beveled glass panel from possible breakage. In our doors and sidelites, the triple-thick IG panels permanently seals the decorative glass panel inside of two sheets of tempered safety glass.

Our beveled glass panels are available with three metal color finish options which include Black, Satin Nickel and Oil Rubbed Bronze. All offer superior strength, and assurance that your decorative glass door will last. Not all colors are available in each glass design. Custom glass panel designs are available in Black and Satin Nickel metal came colors only.

Bevel Cluster Glass Panels offer beveled glass center groupings or clusters of quality, hand beveled clear glass pieces, which we combine with crystal obscure glass backgrounds and borders using a variety of glass textures. This combination affords maximum beauty and privacy. Like the fully beveled glass panels, each individual piece of beveled glass in these cluster panels is hand-cut and beveled to maximize the brilliance and sparkle of each beautiful glass design.

Fully Beveled Glass Panels are those in which 100% of the individual glass pieces in the glass panel have beveled edges to provide the maximum amount of brilliance and sparkle. These fully beveled panels are available in two options: 1) constructed using all clear glass; or 2) panels which incorporate obscure glue-chip beveled pieces for visual obscurity and added privacy. The clear, fully beveled glass designs offered include: Hillsborough, Bourbon Street, Arlington, and Savoy designs. The glue-chip fully beveled glass designs offered include: Palacio, Brazos, Courtlandt, Colonial and Heritage designs.

Fully Beveled Glass Panels are those in which 100% of the individual glass pieces in the glass panel have beveled edges to provide the maximum amount of brilliance and sparkle. These fully beveled panels are available in panels which incorporate obscure glue-chip beveled pieces for visual obscurity and added privacy. The glue-chip fully beveled glass designs offered include the Colonial and Heritage designs.

Bevel Cluster Glass Panels offer beveled glass center groupings or clusters of quality, hand beveled clear glass pieces, which we combine with crystal obscure glass backgrounds and borders using a variety of glass textures. This combination affords maximum beauty and privacy. Like the fully beveled glass panels, each individual piece of beveled glass in these cluster panels is hand-cut and beveled to maximize the brilliance and sparkle of each beautiful glass design.

Decorative Grille inserts are wrought-iron inspired VinciLites™ series of patented decorative “grille-between-the-glass” or GBG doors and are unique in their appearance, and feature simulated hand-tooling marks with new and unique designs. Each Legacy door profile features a decorative grille design with an antique black finish, mounted between two pieces of tempered safety glass. Each decorative GBG design has two glass texture options available with varying obscurity levels – all of which allow daylight to enter. All VinciLites designs have been created by and are unique to GlassCraft, who has multiple patents pending on this product and process.

Mahogany and Knotty Alder Wrought Iron Decorative GrillesThe wrought iron mahogany and knotty alder series of doors, sidelites, and transoms provide an impressive range of options and finishes. Matching transoms and sidelights are available for most grille designs. Doors feature laminated, engineered stiles and rails to virtually eliminate warping. Door panels are constructed using a 3-piece assembly that incorporates a cross-grained spline in the core to eliminate panel splitting. Doors are assembled using an authentic doweled cove-and-bead technique.

Choose from six finish colors in our Traditional and Distressed finish options. See pages 10 & 11 for photos of the mahogany and knotty alder factory finish options. These doors may be ordered individually, or assembled in matching mahogany or knotty alder jambs for either interior or exterior applications.

Decorative Straps, Clavos and V-Grooved Options See pages 12-14 for full details on our handmade decorative wrought iron clavos, hinge strap and door straps. Example drawings are available throughout this section. Door panels may also be V-Grooved.

Wrought Iron Transoms and Sidelites Many of the wrought iron designs have transom and sidelite options; see pre-hung entryway drawings and options under each door design. Entryways use wrought iron grilles on the transoms and sidelites to match the wrought iron in the door. Matching glass texture panels are also used in these doors, transoms and sidelites. Transoms and sidelites may also be used as separate units from the door and may be purchased individually to fit your projects needs.

The TDL “True Divided Lite” Series with Low-E Glass GlassCraft’s TDL collection provides a selection of classic French doors and stylish Prairie and Craftsman doors — all with smooth and rich woodgrains. The TDL (True Divided Lite) series of mahogany and knotty alder doors will complement a wide range of architectural styles. TDL doors in this catalog are true TDL doors, and do not use simulated divided lites. TDL doors that feature double insulated glass panels for security, strength, and energy efficiency include low emissivity (Low-E) glass.

This TDL Series provides an impressive range of options and finishes. Choose from six finish colors in our traditional and our distressed finish options. See pages 10 & 11 for photos of GlassCraft’s mahogany and knotty alder factory finish options. GlassCraft TDL doors and sidelites incorporate tempered glass for safety and security.

These doors may be ordered individually, or assembled in matching mahogany or knotty alder jambs for both interior and exterior applications.

TDL Door Construction

Matching transoms and sidelites are available for most designs. Doors feature laminated, engineered stiles and rails to virtually eliminate warping. Door panels are constructed using a 3-piece assembly that incorporates a cross-grained spline in the core to eliminate panel splitting. Doors are assembled using an authentic doweled cove-and-bead technique.

Refer to page 9 for an edge section view of the door stile. These doors use solid mahogany and knotty alder wood construction. Door panels are fully floating. Craftsman door panels are flat, in keeping with the design style for these Prairie style doors.

TDL doors are available in 2’-6”, 2’-8” and 3’-0” widths, and in 8’-0” and 6’-8” heights. Most door profiles have a matching sidelite and transoms available. All TDL transoms incorporate IG beveled glass. TDL transoms are available in rectangular, elliptical, segment head and half round profiles.

Most TDL doors use a 1-7⁄16˝ wide muntin bar to accommodate the double-thick IG glass panels. The 3 lite and 6 lite arch top double doors with straight muntin bars have a single-thick glass option and 7⁄8˝ wide muntin bars. Only TDL doors with double glazed insulated glass have been tested and approved for use in windstorm areas. Please refer to our web site for specific Design Pressure ratings for wind-storm approved TDL doors.

The TDL arch top double doors on pages 114 & 115 are available with a raised molding option mounted on the exterior side of the door.

TDL Glass OptionsAll TDL doors feature tempered safety glass for safety and security. Depending upon your requirements, you may choose from two types of glass panels: Single thick or double thick insulated and beveled glass panels.

Single Glazed The single glazed glass panel consists of one layer of clear safety glass. This door provides a simple and elegant appearance. This option is available only in 3 lite and 6 lite arch top double doors with straight muntin bars.

Double Glazed The double thick insulated glass panels consist of two layers of safety glass. The exterior glass pane includes a 1˝ wide beveled edge for sparkle and beauty. The double glazed TDL doors feature low emissivity “Low-E” glass panels for security, strength, and energy efficiency.

TDL transoms are ONLY available with this double thick insulated and beveled glass option.

Use decorative door straps for installation onto the face of a door to give it a rustic or antique look. Door straps can be mounted on the interior, the exterior or both sides of a door. Straps may be used with or without the clavos shown on page 14. These door straps are hand-made and therefore vary slightly. Straps include handmade mounting nails. Each of the design series...Madrid and Florentine...include matching shaped L and T straps. The "L strap" is for square door corners, the "T strap" is for the door stile and cross rail joint, and the "angled / arched L and T strap" is for doors with curved cross or top rails. Examples of our wrought iron hinge strap and corner strap configurations can be found on page 13. Iron straps and clavos will be packaged separately and uninstalled on all unfinished GlassCraft door products so the door may be finished before the iron straps and clavos are installed.
