When any suspension/ steering repairs are performed on a vehicle equipped with an air bag system, the steering wheel MUST be locked in the neutral (center) position. If not, the wheel

can rotate and cause the air bag spring to be wound too tight in one direction. Then when the first turn is made, the Clock Spring will snap.The result is an open circuit in the system that will

cause the air bag light to come on and the system will be inoperative. NOTE: The air bag system is constantly monitored and will shut off when it senses an open air bag circuit.
