    %ethod of %aintaining &a'or (#ades and the Shape of Straight &a'ors)

    Submitted 4 November, 1949*P+39949-

    Patent va#id from 1 .pri#, 19+

The invention re#ates to the method of maintaining of ra'or b#ades and straight ra'ors sharp ithout the au0i#iary

source of energy) To sharpen the b#ades, therefore no mechanica#, therma#, chemica# or e#ectrica# *rom an artificia#

source- means are being used) There are various mechanica# sharpening devices being used ti## no to sharpen usedra'or b#ades) The b#ade is sharpened by crude app#ication of sharpening materia#, hich a#ays resu#ts in certain

ne ear of the b#ade during the sharpening process) urthermore, it is 2non that the inf#uence of an artificia#

magnetic fie#d improves the sharpening of ra'or b#ades and straight ra'ors, if their b#ades #ay in the direction of

    magnetic #ines)

.ccording to this invention, the b#ade is p#aced in earths magnetic fie#d under a ho##o pyramid made of die#ectricmateria# such as hard paper, paraffin paper, hard cardboard, or some p#astic) The pyramid has an opening in its basethrough hich the b#ade is inserted) This opening can be suare, circu#ar, or ova#) The most suitab#e pyramid is a

four sided one ith a suare base, here one side is convenient#y eua# to the height of the pyramid, mu#tip#ied by π/+) 5pi or 3)14/+6 or e0amp#e, for the height of 178%, the side of 1)! centimeters is chosen) The ra'or b#ade of

straight ra'or is p#aced on the support made a#so of die#ectric materia#, same as the pyramid, or other such as cor2,ood, or ceramics, paraffin, paper, et) cetra) ts height is chosen beteen 1/ and 1/3 of the height of the pyramid,

this support rests a#so on a p#ane made of die#ectric materia#) The si'e of this support shou#d be chosen as to #eave

the sharp edges free) ts height cou#d vary from the #imits stated above) .#though it is not abso#ute necessary, it is

recommended that the b#ade be p#aced on the support ith its sharp edges facing est or east respective#y, #eavingits side edges as e## as its #ongitudina# a0is oriented in North South direction) n other ords to increase the

effectiveness of the device it is recommended #ie in essence in the direction of the magnetic #ines of the hori'onta#

component of the earths magnetism) This position improves the performance of the device, it is not hoeveressentia# for the app#ication of the princip#e of this invention) .fter the b#ade is proper#y p#aced it is covered ith the

pyramid in such a ay that its side a##s face north, south, east, and est, hi#e its edges point in northest, south

    est, southeast, and northeast direction)

t is beneficia# to #eave a ne b#ade in the pyramid one to to ee2s before using it) t is essentia# to p#ace it there

immediate#y after the first shave, and not the o#d, du## one) (ut it is possib#e to use an o#d one, if it is proper#y

resharpened) The b#ade p#aced using the method above is #eft unobstructed unti# the ne0t shave) The est edge

shou#d a#ays face est) t improves the sharpening effect)

    2/3

    ra'or b#ades, hich is 111 shaves per b#ade

on the average) The brand used as ?$u2at @#ato? made in 8'echos#ova2ia) The #oest count as 1, the highest

as +77) t is considered very easy to achieve up to 7 shaves on the average) *for a medium hard hair-

The fo##oing shos ho the invention cou#d save both va#uab#e materia# and money; Ane ra'or b#ade mentioned

above eighs 7)1 grams) ra'or b#ades or 33)1 grams of

    stee# per person)

An#y the pyramid shape has been used for this invention, but this invention is not #imited to this shape, as it can

cover other geometric shapes made of die#ectric materia# that as used in accordance ith the invention) .nd that

this shape a#so causes regeneration of sharp edges of shaving b#ades by #oering of stresses and reducing the

number of defects in the grids of crysta# units, in other ords recovering and reneing the mechanica# and physica# properties of the b#ade)

    &he 'u""ar( Of &he Patent

    1) The method of maintaining the ra'or b#ades and straight ra'or b#ades sharp by p#acing them in the magnetic fie#din such a ay that the sharp edge #ies in the direction of the magnetic #ines) The b#ades are p#aced in the earths

magnetic fie#d and are covered by the ho##o pyramid made of die#ectric materia# such as hard paper, impregnatedor paraffin paper, cardboard or p#astic) The most suitab#e is a pyramid ith a suare base) t is the best hen one

side is eua# the height of the cone mu#tip#ied by π /+) 5Pi or 3)14 /+6 The pyramid is provided is provided ithsuare, round, or rectangu#ar opening in its base and is oriented ith its side edges pointing to the northest, southest, southeast, and northeast directions) The ra'or b#ade or straight ra'or is p#aced hori'onta##y on the support

made a#so of die#ectric materia#, same as the pyramid or other such as cor2, ood, paraffin paper, or ceramics, the

height being height being beteen 1/+ and 1/3 of the height of the pyramid and hich in turn rests on the p#ane

made of die#ectric materia#) The b#ade is positioned in northsouth direction)

+) %ethod as artic#e 1 and identified by the b#ade is p#aced in the cone, same side facing the same direction after

    each use)
