CRITERION I – CURRICULAR ASPECTS

1.1 Curriculum Planning and Implementation

1.1.1 Institution has the mechanism for well planned curriculum delivery and documentation.

Institute has a well developed strategy for planning and implementation of the curriculum.

Effective implementation of the curriculum is meticulously executed according to the Institute’s

academic calendar which is alignment with affiliated University’s academic acalendar.

Orientation of the faculty for effective implementation of teaching learning process is a regular

practice at the Institute.

• At the beginning of the academic year Head of the Department (HoD) conducts the meeting to

discuss the academic calendar, time table, and confirmation of industrial visits, expert lectures,

and the course file of the faculty.

• Faculty prepares the course file which contains lesson planning, question banks, assignments,

planning of extra guest lectures, industry visits, tutorial questions etc.

• Institute has its in house developed Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tool which is used for

effective deployment of curriculum. Once the classes are commenced the faculty maintains a

record of - lectures and attendance in ERP, continuous progressive assessment with respect to

practical / assignments/ tutorial work, periodic unit test and re-test, project work and its progress.

Institute initiates many mechanisms contributing to effective curriculum delivery as follows -

• Training of faculty for teaching learning

• Extra classes for slow learners

• Extra practical and lecture sessions for directly admitted second year diploma students.

• Extra tutorials for courses with mathematical orientation.

• Uploading notes on ERP

• Online MCQs practice

• Conduction of mock orals and mock practical exams.

• Remedial classes after the test analysis.

These records are audited during the semester by the HoD and Dean Academics. Auditing of

deployment of all the mentioned initiatives is carried out by the Academic Audit Committee at

the end of the semester; it appreciates the efforts, identifies and suggests the area of

improvement, if any.

2.5.2 Reforms initiated on Continuous Internal Evaluation(CIE) system at the institutional level

1.Academic Monitoring conducted per semester: Academic monitoring is carried out per

slot throughout the academics and it is reported to the Academic monitoring team which

Page 13: Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Technology, Pimpri, Pune...Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Technology, Pimpri, Pu ne Page 4 Increase in Consultancy 2017_18 07 Establishing Incubation Centre

Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Technology, Pimpri, Pune Page 13

closely observes the execution of lectures and practical as per the time table. This helps to

ensure the regular and timely conduction of lectures and practical’s as per the time table.

2.Academic Audit conducted per semester: Academic audit is conducted per semester to

ensure and enhance the quality of Teaching – learning process. It includes the course file

preparation including handwritten notes or in soft copy. This ensures the readiness of faculty

to cope up with the challenges in the implementation of syllabus.

3.Research Audit conducted per semester: Faculty members are encouraged to publish

research work in the reputed indexed National as well as International Conferences and

Journals. They are being motivated and helped by the Institution which enhances the

Research Culture in the Institute.

4.ERP Audit conducted per semester: The necessary material like lesson plan, practical

assignment Schedule, notes, question Banks, assignments. etc is uploaded on ERP, so that

not only faculty but student also get easy access to the material in advance which helps the

students to understand the subject content in a better way.

5.Feedback from students: Per semester feedback of teaching learning process is taken

from students which are also conveyed to the concerned faculty so as to strengthen their

weaknesses if any or to maintain the strengths consistently.

6. Cohort Cluster: According to the expertise of domain teams (including teachers which

more experience and less experience) are formed which ensures the knowledge transfer

amongst the team wherein they plan for the extra activities to be conducted for smooth and

effective conduction of academics.

7. Empowerment to faculty members with less experience: Similar to the above

mentioned cohort cluster, at Institute level seminars , interactive sessions are conducted by

experienced faculty members.

2.5.3 Academic calendar prepared and adhered for conduct of Examination and other

related matters.

Commencement of classes at the institute in all departments is scheduled according to the

affiliated university Semester Schedule. Non reported students list is displayed after a week

of commencement. Monthly attendance record of every student is generated in every month.

Appropriate warning/action is taken against those students. Two class tests per semester are

conducted. HoD Meeting with Class Teachers is scheduled twice in a semester to discuss

and resolve student’s problems. Seminar/Project related activities are scheduled regularly in

a semester. Remedial classes for learners who need extra practice are also scheduled during

the semester. Student’s feedback is taken two times in a semester. Display of final
