BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS

Children are like sponges—they watch and absorb knowledge, skills and values from everything and everyone around them.

At the Y, babies develop trust and security, pre-schoolers experience early literacy and learn about their world and school age kids make friends, learn new skills and do their homework.

Most importantly, children learn how to be their best selves. That makes for confi dent kids today, and contributing and engaged adults tomorrow.

HEALTHY LIVINGClasses

BOOTCAMP (2-3)Try this community building, hardcore workout! In 45 minutes you’ll sweat together, challenge each other’s cardio and muscular fi tness, and challenge yourself and others to work hard.

BUTTS N GUTS (2-3)If you’re looking for a focused workout, specifi cally for the lower body and abs, this is the class for you! This class offers high intensity exercises with both high and low impact options! Using your own body weight, weights and bands we’ll be able to challenge our muscles, some of which you may not have known you had!

FUNDAMENTAL STRENGTH (0)FUNdamental Strength is a group fi tness class specifi cally for our youth, ages 8 and up. This class is designed to help strengthen the musculoskeletal system through body weight exercises as well as hand weights, bands and other various equipment.

LIVESTRONGER (1-2)This class is geared towards cancer survivors and those who have graduated from our Livestrong program. Focusing on strength, endurance and balance, we keep the class fun and challenging.

ZUMBA (0)Zumba is a Latin-inspired fi tness program that involves aerobic dancing and other cardiovascular exercises. The word “Zumba” has its roots in Colombia and it means “to move fast and have fun”, which is exactly what the fi tness program is all about.

DANCE IT OFF (1-2)This class is for those who love to move to music and the desire to burn some calories and elevate your heart rate with simple dance moves. Moves can be low or high impact, and are designed with the beginner in mind. Rediscover your love of dance and have fun.

GROUP CYCLING (0)This class offers all the challenges of cycling on the open road with hills and uneven terrain. The workout is set to great music with various motivating drills throughout the class. Cycling is an excellent workout for your lower half, which is also complemented by exercising your heart! If you are looking for weight loss, this class will help burn some major calories, and it keeps you sweating from beginning to end.

YIN YANG YOGA (0)The principles behind this class are that moves are complimentary to one another: Yin can be described as stable, passive or relaxing, where Yang would be the challenging, active and upward movements. This class offers challenging movements and poses, followed by poses or movements that allow for recovery and/or relaxation.

SILVERSNEAKERS/SENIOR FIT (1)The Silver Sneakers class offers multi-level equipment based strength and conditioning exercises designed for active older adult members. The class is easy on your joints and appropriate for individuals who exercise regularly as well as those new to exercise or who may not have exercised in years. The exercises are designed to improve your strength, fl exibility, balance and coordination. Plus, you will enjoy the music and camaraderie of your fellow participants. Any Y member can participate in these programs regardless of age or membership type, guaranteeing you the opportunity to make new friends.

TONE IT UP (2)This class is designed to focus mainly on your muscular strength in order to create the toned physique that you are looking for! It will offer many exercises involving body weight, dumbbells, bands and steps, which can be complemented by cardio and abdominal work. The instructors try to keep the variety and interest level high while having fun and working hard at the same time. If you are looking to tone your body’s physique, then this class is for you!

TOTAL BODY BLAST (2-3)Just like the name says, we’re trying to blast the entire body! Through compound movements, participants are challenging the entire body, getting their heart rates up and challenging their muscles. Using a variety of weights, as well as body weight, you’re sure to be challenged. This class is great for the intermediate to advanced exerciser and is guaranteed to make you sweat, work hard, and increase strength! Total Body Blast (1-2) is the same idea, but with a low-impact, joint friendly focus.

TRX SUSPENSION TRAINING (0)Total Resistance Training or suspension training builds a strong core, fl exibility, strength, and endurance. You will use only your body weight to help improve balance, strengthen muscles and joints in order to complete challenging exercises more effectively. You can take your performance to the next level or choose to modify movements for beginners or for members with limitations. This is a great class to help improve shoulder, hip, knee and ankle strength while literally working every muscle in your body. If you have not participated in TRX before, please contact our Healthy Living Director for a personal training

WISE EXERCISE (1-2)Similar to SilverSneakers, Wise Exercise is designed for active older adults who are looking for a great workout, and camaraderie. The class is easy on your joints and appropriate for individuals who exercise regularly as well as those new to exercise or who may not have exercised in years. The exercises are designed to improve your strength, fl exibility, balance and coordination.

YOGA FLOW (0)Yoga Flow is inspired by Vinyasa, which synchronizes movement with breath, fl owing from one move to the next. This class will help you build strength, increase fl exibility, and fi nd focus through deep breathing. This class is ideal for those experienced with yoga and anyone new to this exercise and interested in its benefi ts. Please bring a Yoga mat and props if you have them.
