Southern Alps IPAThis refreshing little number won the prestigious Brewers Guild of New Zealand Champion Beer award (2018), as well as taking out the Champion US Ale category. Made with Vienna and Pale Wheat malts and dry hopped with a blend of Nelson Sauvin and Citra hops, giving a strong citrus and lemongrass aroma. The use of Belgian ale yeast and coriander for spicing gives the beer complexity and depth of flavour. The perfect marriage between a Belgian Wit and an IPA.

The Moa Story

The Moa Brewing Company was founded in 2003 by Josh Scott, the son of renowned Marlbough winemaker Allan Scott. The name “Moa” also derives from the region as early settlers to the area hunted Moa which were in huge abundance in the Wairau Valley.

With a focus on brewing super premium handcrafted beers, Moa brews are made the way beer used to be. Many are rounded off through the use of bottle conditioning, a traditional technique that naturally carbonates the beer, significantly enhancing longevity. It also creates dynamic and complex flavours that change over time like a good wine, and gives the beer an elegant, champagne-like mouthfeel.

From small beginnings, Moa are now New Zealand’s largest independent brewery, exporting to 10 countries, but still proudly owned by over 1600 New Zealanders.
