Finding Lost SpaceThe problem of urban design today

    Finding Lost SpaceLOST SPACE DEFINDE

LOST SPACE is the leftover unstructured land space at the base of high-rise towers or the unused sunken plaza away from the flow of

    pedestrian activity in the city.

LOST SPACE are the no-mans lands along the edges of freeways that nothat nobody cares about maintaining.

LOST SPACE are also the abandoned waterfronts ,train yards ,vacatedmilitary site ,and industrial complexes that have moved out to thesuburbs for easier access and perhaps lower taxes. They are the vacant

blight-clearance sites _ remnants of the urban of the urban renewaldays _ that were for a multitude of reasons never redeveloped.

    Finding Lost SpaceLOST SPACE DEFINDE

LOST SPACE are deteriorated parks and marginal public hosing projectsthat have to be rebuilt because they do not serve their intended

purpose.Generally LOST SPACE are the undesirable urban areas that are in need

of redesign - antispaces ,making in positive contribution to thesurroundings or users . They are ill-defined, without measurable

boundaries, and fill to connect elements in a coherent way.

    Finding Lost SpaceThe causes

There are five major factors that have contributed to lost space in ourcites:

    The points for redesigning:

studying historic precedents and the way in which modernspace has involved

developing an understanding of the underlying theories of urban spatial design.

3-developing skills in synthesizing and applying these in thedesign process.

    Finding Lost SpaceUrban space precedents

Historic model of urban space can provide both formal and conceptualguiding principles during the design process . The adaptation of these

models to contemporary need must be seriously questioned.
