    FACILITIES HIRE

As previously stated, School Council endorses the hiring of school facilities and we have contracts available to support a mutually agreeable relationship. However, there are restrictions on when our spaces are available. The Senior Learning Area Great Spaces and the Prep Great Space are generally available after 6.00pm on weeknights and the hall is available on weekends with School Council approval. The hall is also available from 7.30pm – 10.00pm on weeknights with School Council approval. The types of organisations that have hired spaces at previous schools I have worked at include: Dance, Zumba, Karate, Fitness Trainers, Chess Club, Book Club, Basketball etc. to name a few. Please contact me through the General Office if you are interested in commencing discussions. GREEN DAY

Thanks to Loretta Leary for again organising Green Day and leading the learning for our students about the importance of Sustainability and building a better world for future generations. The students had a wonderful day and thanks to our staff for acknowledging and supporting the educational value of this very important day on our calendar. STAFFING

Thanks to Mandi Peters, our part time school nurse, for all she has done for the school over the past 12 months. Mandi is returning to work in the hospital system and will be greatly missed. Mandi’s replacement is registered nurse, Helen Coates. Next term Jacqueline Griffeth will be reducing her time fraction to four days a week so a new teacher will be teaching Library on Fridays. I am currently conducting interviews to organise Jacqueline’s replacement on Fridays. HOT CROSS BUN FUNDRAISER

The students enjoyed eating their delicious Hot Cross Buns on Tuesday this week. A big thank you to Tina Kolivas for co-ordinating this event and Kirsten Simm, Rebecca Woods and Kellie Cusdin for helping with the organisation of this fundraiser. JUNIOR HOUSE CROSS COUNTRY

Congratulations to Dale Carroll for organising the Junior House Cross Country. Thanks also to the teachers for supporting Dale and we greatly appreciate the large number of family members who attended. The event was competed in great spirit (with no cheating) with some wonderful performances and personal bests. Go Barwon! Continued..

    STUDENT COUNCIL NEWS

On 7 March we held a fundraiser to raise money for Lilian our World Vision sponsored child from Kenya. We raised $854.20. Thank you to all who donated. Last week our first letter from Lilian arrived. It reads…

    Dear Prep AW, 5H, 3EK, 1KO, 6BR, Prep KS, 1CC, 2RK, 6TH, 5MS and 2CP

I hope you are fine all of you, I have received your letters this January. I am happy to get them. I am fine.

This year I am in class five. I was retained in class five so that I can get better marks for class six. I hope

you all went to the next class this year in 2018.

I celebrated my Christmas very well with our family members, we all went to church then came back home

    for celebrations.

This term in school, we will be doing sports and we will be competing with other schools in sports. What are

you doing this term in your school?

How many pupils do you have in your school? Is your school in one compound?

I wish to hear from you more.

    Yours Lilian Mutheu

    DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES NEWS

Overall the students did really well. Congratulations to the 9 students who received High Distinctions, 3 who received Distinctions, 16 who received Credit and 33 who received Merit awards. Certificates will be distributed this week. Students who missed out will have an opportunity next term as technical difficulties with the Bebras site prevented some students from logging on.
