Dumbleyung Primary School Dear Parent/Carers and Community Members Woohooo!! We brought it home, overall winner of the Dumbleyung Speech, Drama and Art Festival was DUMBLEYUNG PRIMARY SCHOOL!! What at thrill it was for us all to win the overall trophy, and so narrowly—by 1 point! It has been a few years since we have won but all of the hard work our students and teachers put in certainly paid off. The Art this year was outstanding with many comments from parents and visitors saying it was a tremendous display. I would like to thank the visiting schools; Lake Grace, Kukerin, Nyabing, Kulin, Braeside and Wagin for participating and making the day really special. The students were so well-behaved, polished and enthusiastic about participating, which makes the immense energy the day requires well worth it. Thank you to the Dumbleyung P& C for all of your combined efforts in catering for the day and in assisting with the pack-up afterwards. Thank you to the Dumbleyung Staff for their yet again amazing efforts and energy in pulling everything together and of course our Judge, Michele Brown and two scribes Helen Gooding and Jenny Williams. It was a wonderful day that placed our school and wider community in the spotlight! This week sees our Year 5 and 6 students travel to Dwellingup for their camp. Wet weather and cold winds are on the forecast so make sure students are well prepared with warm clothes. Friday, 22 June is Winter Carnival in Katanning. Mrs Laura Bartram will be the teacher-in-charge of the Year 3/4 hockey team that will represent Dumbleyung. Assisting parents will also be going across for the day, all travel arrangements have been organised and will be by private vehicle. Make sure the children have a raincoat on hand as Winter carnival always sees a shower or two!! Thank you to all the parents who sent children dressed as pirates last week. Many of you went to lots of trouble with truly fantastic costumes. The children were super charged with excitement playing skull duggery games at recess and lunch. A special thank you to Janina Blake who went to lots of trouble making a pirate cup cake for every student. Thank you Janina, they were yummy! All money raised has been sent to ‘The Adventurers’ for childhood brain cancer research. Melissa Walker, Principal of Narrogin SHS has scheduled a 10:30am ‘Meet and Greet’ with all Year 5/6 parents on Monday the 25th of June in the Library. Come along and hear about what NSHS can offer your child and have a cup of tea. Next Thursday the 28th of June, 2pm, in the Library , Sgt Alby Van Den Berg will be running a parent information session on Cyber Safety. As parents it is sometimes hard to keep up or ahead of our children and the fast paced digital world in which is very much apart of our lives now. Important issues we should know about in relation to safety and online gaming, internet use and messaging will be some of the topics covered in the parent session. The session is designed to be interactive and encourages questions from parents on things they may need further clarification on. The session is completely free, so come along and then stay for the Senior Room Assembly which will follow. Dumbleyung Primary School

Dear Parent/Carers and Community Members

Woohooo!! I would like to thank the visiting schools; Lake Grace, Kukerin, Nyabing, Kulin, Braeside and Wagin for participating and making the day really special. The students were so well-behaved, polished and enthusiastic about participating, which makes the immense energy the day requires well worth it.

Students from seven schools participated in the Dumbleyung Speech, Drama and Art Festival for 2018. There were six

categories that students could take part in over the day and there were also three Art categories for Famous Art Works

Reproduced that were judged prior to the event commencing. Spectators and competitors were also asked to vote for their

favourite piece of Art work and the Popular Choice award went to Lucy Scadding—Kulin District High School. A final award

was given to the Highest Scoring School over the day and the prestigious award this year went to Dumbleyung Primary

School. We last won this event in 2012.

The Dumbleyung Speech, Drama and Art Festival Committee would like to sincerely thank our Adjudicator, Mrs Michele Brown

for all the hard work she did over the days adjudicating and for also judging the Art the previous day. A big thank you also to

Mrs Helen Gooding and Mrs Jennifer Williams for scribing the adjudicator’s comments and finalizing the Art the previous day.

Sincere thanks to the par-

ents, staff and teachers

from the various schools

who helped to prepare

the performers for the

day, the Dumbleyung

P&C for the great

morning tea and lunches

and the Dumbleyung

Shire for all their

contributions leading up

to the day.

Finally, thanks go to all of

our competitors. We look

forward to seeing

everyone again

in 2019.
