FESTIVAL OF MUSIC ORCHESTRA2020
The 2020 Festival of Music will be held 31 August - 12 September in the Adelaide Festival Theatre.
Three orchestras consisting of approximately 30-35 public school students will be formed to accompanythe choir and perform featured orchestral items.
Each orchestra is made up of a string, wind and rhythm section and rehearse at one of three locations,
across the Metropolitan area.
Orchestra is open to any Department for Education student who will be in Years 5-10 in 2020 (schooldoes not need to be participating in the Festival).
Please note that extra workshops, rehearsals or venue changes may occur to further develop thestudents learning. These will be advised as early as possible to assist your planning.
Audition Requirements
Applicants will be asked to present the following:
Excerpt playingEach instrument has a set of excerpts (located on the PSMF website
from 31 October) that must be presented
Free Choice pieceThis piece should demonstrate the applicant’s current playing abilityPlease provide the judging panel with a copy of the music upon arrival (this will be returned to
you after the audition)
Duration of each audition is approximately 10 minutes
COSTA fee of $55 is charged to cover cost of
uniform and music folder

Members must attend:
Weekly rehearsals from 4:20pm to 6:00pm (one night a week)Full day or half day workshops as required (maximum of 2)
2 full day offsite rehearsals4 rehearsals and 4 performances at the Festival Theatre
Northern Metro and Southern Metro Music Festivals(details to be advised in 2020)
