PROFILE

The scope for this assignment is to show the e-business module of GM forviewing the vehicle models, costs, features, technical specs, inventorylevels and dealer locations for USA only.

The web site also has takes users to e-biz sites of respectively countries. However we have chosen the USA site.

General Motors took the initiative in early 2003 to develop the e-commerce site after seeing a steep rise in B2C sites and increased IT savvy

customers. As Cars are sold through a dealer network, Customer usually got the

information as good as the salesman. Customers always showeddissatisfaction, as they werent informed on all packages and features. Also Dealers pushed the models that gave them higher profits.

GM leadership wanted to create a E-BIZ website which would have all the

information, that is required for the customer to buy the GM vehicle of their choice

The website talks about all packages, discounts, inventory at dealers, costs, dealer locations and all other benefits available with a vehicle.

The major advantage for this is that most of the sales arecompleted in less time, as the customer comes in ready with allinformation. The customer has the information of the availability of the vehicle and the final non-negotiated price.

The number of manpower needed to assist the customers isreduced at the dealerships, as E-BIZ terminals are available atdealers to help customers to choose the packages.

The after sales support improved and customers could track thevehicle repair status online and plan his trip to the dealersaccordingly.

The site also provides information on Car comparison with prefixedcompetitor models, which has been outsourced to a third partyorganization.
