Receiving Station Dry Tower

AIVs Software Solutions

Our Dry Tower is the central warehouse for your component rolls. These are stored traceably and at specified ambient conditions (MSD) and provided again as required. Thanks to the connection to the higher-level „Material Manager“ soft-ware, you can always query the current status.

With the autonomous transport robots from ASYS you can transport any material in production, e.g. trays, magazines, raw circuit boards, component rolls and consumables. They are transported efficiently and just-in-time on the shopfloor.

With our product portfolio, we cover 75% of an SMT line and can therefore optimally support you in the production process. Get your line ready for Industry 4.0. Thanks to our AIV-compliant loading and unloading systems, you can auto-mate your processes.

In the Material Warehouse, PCB magazines and materials in KLT boxes are automatically stored under optimal conditions on a very small area according to the chaotic storage princip-le. You have your WIP under control until the final assembly. Each magazine can be located and traced via the warehouse management software.

Comprehensive software solutions manage and simplify manufacturing processes. The assistance system PULSE relieves the operator in his tasks, the material manager collects the data of all systems in the production and then plans the production cycles.

At the receiving station we identify and mark the material fully automatically with a Unique ID – so you can track all further steps in your production. If required, the exact num-ber of components on the component rolls can be counted to ensure complete inventory monitoring.

TRACKED FROM THE BEGINNING

ASYS Receiving Station RFID controlled

Track your material from the beginning and implement the advantages of a fully automa-ted goods receiving solution from ASYS for your production.

ReceivingStation

Unique identification of the material with a Unique-ID

Marking of the containers with a Unique-ID

Counting of the components on component rolls by means of X-

ray detection

Quality control (e.g. readability of manufacturer label)

Recording of MSL criteria (Floor-Lifetime monitoring)

Registration of the container in the customer system

Connection to the ASYS Material Manager or your specific ERP/

MES system

Preparation for automated production (e.g. AIV transport)

Automatic removal of the component rolls in the storage

system

We cover the following processes for you:

The receiving station of ASYS for e.g. compo-nent rolls operates accordingly:

The component rolls are supplied to a Scan&Label station. During the scanning process, they are registered in the higher-level system and labelled with a unique ID. Then an X-ray cell can be integrated - offline or inli-ne - which counts the components on the roll and thus takes over the process control for component rolls. If you have been supplying rolls to your production so far, you often do not know the exact number of loaded components, as it is not recorded due to the process, e.g.

splicing. The X-ray cell accurately counts the number of components on each roll so you can verify your inventory. Finally, the rolls are prepared for automated transport in production and traceable storage. They are grouped in containers, which are then transported by AIVs (autonomous intelligent vehicles) through pro-duction or to central, fully automatic warehou-ses. These containers are uniquely traced and identified by RFID along their entire journey through manufacturing.

This goods receiving scenario can be applied to all materials such as raw circuit boards, consumables or trays, but, depending on the

version, with a different degree of automation with partially manual processes.

BenefitsNo more manual recording of rolls necessary

Automatic recording in the customer system

Minimization of incorrect bookings through clear identification

Buffering of complete component roll batches

Flexibility at the installation site due to autonomous power supply

THE MASTER OF MATERIAL LOGISTICS

Fabian Autenrieth has been responsible for Ma-terial Logistics as Product Line Manager since the beginning of the year. In this interview, he gives insights on himself, his strategy and the challenges in the market.

You have been part of the ASYS Group for a long time. What is your professional background?I have been working for ASYS Process and Cleanroom Technology since 2010, responsible for the product areas dry storage systems and clean rooms. With this background, I know the demands our customers place on our automa-ted warehousing solutions like „Dry Tower“ and „Material Warehouse“. This is where I can start when it comes to identifying processes and

developing concepts for our Material Logistics solutions. Before my time at ASYS Process and Cleanroom Technology I worked for a metal processor in the areas of production planning, quality management and product management. Here I have taken over tasks, such as the layout design of the production environment in the course of a relocation, which certainly benefit me in my current position.

What expectations do you have of the market and the Material Logistics product area?I can see a strong trend in the market towards the automation of material flows within the manufacturing environment. I see this as an absolute future topic, especially with regard

Fabian Autenrieth in the interview

to the smart factory. In the area of Material Logistics we at ASYS set the cornerstones for this future – our goal is to accompany our customers on their way to an intelligent factory with scalable and modular solutions. In my opinion our primary role is to identify future processes and implement them on the market. This demands our commitment and courage to develop new ideas. I expect strong growth in Material Logistics and will do everything in my power to confirm our success to date. My goal is to further establish our complete solutions for the shopfloor on the market and to position ourselves as the optimal strategic partner for our customers. For this we offer everything from one source, from storage and transport solutions, over the systems for the SMT line, up to our overall software solutions. Our custo-mers can trust and rely on it.

Where do you see the greatest challenge and how do you approach it?The competition is not asleep, many market

players are dealing with the topic of material logistics, developing solutions for it or already have them in the field. We must offer the mar-ket needs-based solutions in order to consolida-te our position. What is very important for us is to maintain close contact with our customers. This enables us to identify and filter needs and trends, which are incorporated into our deve-lopments in a target-oriented manner. With our modular portfolio, we are broadly positioned and have thus created the basis which we will successively expand in future in dialogue with our customers.

Force Control in the gripper Individual circuits can be processed stress-free, since the gripper system functions force-controlled.

Predictive Mainte-nance Smart sensors allow a filter change to be initiated in time.

Offline-Programming Station Work preparation can now be carried out decentrally, so that machine downtimes no longer occur during the changeover.

DIVISIO 5100 as Smart Machine:

DIVISIO 5100

10 11

ALL SMARTDIVISIO 5000 Series

The smart factory needs smart machines. Get to know our concepts for this and discover these in the new DIVISIO 5100.

At what point is a machine smart? „Our goal is to put the whole thing on a practical level in order to drive our innovations in the right direc-tion and make them measurable,“ says Philipp Schmidt, Product Manager for DIVISIO systems. Four criteria drive our development of smart machines into the future. We have further developed the DIVISIO 5100 according to these four criteria to meet the requirements of a „Smart Machine“. At the SMT we present our DIVISIO 5100 in this context.

The new DIVISIO 5100 has smart interfaces that allow modules to be integrated without programming if required. The controller recog-nizes which module is installed and automati-

cally configures it into the plant processes. The machine supports predictive maintenance and thus achieves maximum availability. Regular queries register when maintenance is actu-ally required. This eliminates the cyclic plan. Maintenance is adapted to the condition of the machine and unnecessary interruptions during operation are prevented. Thanks to intelligent and networked sensors within the machine, comprehensive process control is possible. Pa-rameters are continuously collected and evalua-ted. The machine receives real-time information and independently optimizes the process.

ASYS SMART MACHINE CONCEPT

Dynamic cut positi-oning We achieve an ideal cut edge thanks to 100 percent cut edge measurement, the cut positioning is adjus-ted according to the inspection result.

INTELLIGENT SECURED MANAGED CONNECTED

The machine is capa-ble of autonomous operation and adapts its behaviour on the basis of experience gained.

During operation, the machine is capable of avoiding and resolving errors, largely inde-pendently of operator instructions.

The machine is capable of learning and predicting future events and evalua-tes the „state of the machine“.

The machine is able to connect and interact with other machines/systems.

EXCLUSIVE

WITH ASYS TO THE NEW 5G MOBILE COMMUNICATION STANDARDIn an interview, Jürgen Ries, Managing Director ASYS Group China, reports on the impact of the new 5G mobile communication standard for the industry and the ASYS Group.

5G is a disruptive technology, with major implications for many industries. In which industries do you see effects for the ASYS Group? 5G will become a true growth driver for existing industries while creating new applications and business models. We see a new era entering in both the communications and automotive sectors. Streaming services are becoming more and more popular in the communications industry - this requires high data transfer rates. However, hardware that supports the new stan-dard must first be built. In the automotive sector „connected“ is the central keyword - the car becomes a driving smartphone. For this purpo-se, individual components such as control units must be made 5G-capable. In the communica-tions sector, we have gained extensive exper-tise. We use these to support our automotive customers in the development and production of the new hardware. Thanks to our experience from both worlds, we can 100% understand and implement what our customers need.

What are the challenges arising from the new technology? The new technology creates major challenges for the electronics industry. In the case of mobi-le devices and communication modules, packing density increases with increasing miniaturizati-on of the printed circuit board. „Substrate like PCB“ technology is now being introduced and the boundaries between semiconductor back-end and SMD process are disappearing. Where-

as server-side large boards are in demand. With our solutions for marking, handling, printing and depaneling, we are ideally equipped to meet these requirements with high-end solutions.

What concrete solutions does the ASYS Group offer in this respect?Let‘s start for example at the beginning of an SMT line for server back panels. For our hand-ling modules the option for XXL boards has been proven for a long time. With the SERIO 8000, a standard system in our portfolio, we have also processed printed circuit boards up to 1000x610mm with high repeatability in the printing process. We already offer proven solutions in the field of miniaturization. In order to ensure consistently high throughput in the printing process, despite ever smaller printed circuit boards, several well-known customers are already using the Optilign option for the X5 Professional printing system. Align individually, print simultaneously - this is the principle behind the popular option. Multi-row carriers with the smallest printed circuit boards can be processed quickly and precisely. With our INSIGNUM laser marking systems it is already possible today to apply the smallest codes on the smallest surface with high precision. Due to the high packing density, we rely on laser technology to separate the individual circuits from their utility. With the new DIVISIO 8000 laser depanelling system, even flexible printed circuit boards with fine and complicated structures can be depa-nelled close to the edge of the component.

THE CAR LEARNS TO SEE WITH ASYS

ASYS Assembly Solutions

For decades, a well-known automotive supplier has relied on our tailor-made solutions for the efficient manufacture of its products. The same goes for the assembly of front cameras for modern automobiles. They help with steering, braking

or parking and warn the driver if he deviates from the lane. Camera-based assistance systems provide security and must function reliably without compromise. The same applies to the manufacturing process of the camera.

A CLEVER COMBI

Combined with magazine loading lift

Loading station for bare PCBs with magazine loading lift

In the standard version, the loading station VEGO Dy-namic LSB 03 separates raw circuit boards from a stack with a maximum stack height of 340mm. Depending on the characteristics of your substrates – flexible, heavy, large – you can choose from various separation variants such as separation by means of clamps, vacuum or a combination of both. The stack is processed from above.

The LSB 03 with integrated magazine loading lift can supply your production line with already assembled PCBs from a magazine in addition to the raw PCBs. Depen-ding on your current product, it can be used quickly and flexibly in alternating operation. You save valuable space and the costs of an additional magazining system in your production. This gives you additional storage space. The length of the machine is modified by the magazine lift only by the outer dimension of the magazines used.
