Application Systems in use at Madras High Court

Interactive Voice Response System is installed at Madras High Court to

know the Case Status through telephone

Case Status of Madras High Court is posted on Internet

Touch Screen Kiosk is installed at Madras High Court for

public dissemination

Certified copies of Final orders, Bails / Anticipatory Bails and interim

application orders are entered and issued through the system. The

computerized system has reduced the time delay in issuance of copies

to the litigants.

Daily Cause Lists are being prepared using the system. Systems are

installed at Filing Counter, Posting sections for preparation of cause

list.

Daily Cause Lists are being hosted on Internet. Number of hits per

day is more than 7000 on working days.

Reported Judgments are being hosted on Internet. More than 8000

Judgments hosted on Internet. More than 700 users visit the Madras

HC Judgment site every day.

Statistical reports relating to disposed cases statements are prepared

regularly.

Information Centre functions at Madras High Court for the benefit of

Litigant public to know the status of cases filed at Madras HC. Around

700 case enquiries are received at the enquiry counter every day.

New Codification system is introduced at Madras HC in which the

advocates are required to fill up the coding sheet for easy classification

of cases. The system is implemented from 12-06-2006.

English Record department updates the inward/outward movement

of disposed cases.

Payroll system is in regular use.

Madras High Court Bench at Madurai has more than 100 systems with

Local Area Network connecting all the systems. All the application

systems in use at Chennai are implemented at Madurai.

Web site of Madras High Court launched by Justice K.G. Balakrishnan

Judge, Supreme Court on 23.04.2006. The web site address is

Maintenance of 14 lakh case details on the systems, including the

particulars on disposed cases.

Filing Counter Computerisation

Fresh cases are filed at the filing counter by making use of systems

available. At filing Counter, details of the cases such as advocate name,

fees are entered.

The computer maintains the status of each case right from its institution

till its final disposal.

Entry of Fresh cases, Represented cases , SR Returns, Compliance

are entered.

Daily SR Report, Return report is generated through the system.

Certified Copy Issue

The certified copies of Final orders, Bails/Anticipatory Bails and

interim application orders are issued through the system.

On an average, 2000 Final hearing and 3000 Interim orders are

issued through the system per Month.

More than 3,00,000 interim orders are available in the system

The system has reduced the time delay in issuing the certified

copies to the litigant public.

More than 1,00,000 final hearing orders are available in the system

Information center at Madras High Court

Information center functions at Madras High Court premises for the

benefit of litigants. At Information center

Status of cases filed at Madras High Court and Supreme court can

be known at the center.

Status of copy application stage can be viewed/printed through the

system.

Touch screen kiosk is installed and ready for use.

Systems at Notice Section

Systems provided in Notice section for preparation of notice and updation of notice information. Once the case is filed and numbered , notices to the parties can be

generated by the system. More than 100 writ notices (Rule NISI) are prepared per day.

Once the reply is received from the parties , the status of the case

whether ready or not ready can be maintained.

The Home Page contains the rules of the Madras High Court, profiles

of the The Hon’ble Judges, Photos and History.

English Record Department

Software module developed for English Record department which

maintains the case bundles of dispose case is put into use since Sep’ 2005.

The systems maintains the inward and outward movement status of

case bundles.

Search facility is provided on case wise, party name wise.

Cause list on Internet

Instead of waiting for the paper copies, the advocates & litigants having access to internet can refer the cause list on the web. The Madras High Court and Madurai Bench cause list is hosted on

Internet

Number of visitors visiting the Causelist page of Madras High Court per day is more than 6000 on working days.

Search facility is available on judge wise, advocate wise,, court wise

and case number wise.

Judgments on Internet Reported Judgments are being hosted on Internet.

More than 8000 Judgments are hosted on the Internet as on date.

Videoconferencing (VC) facililty is available in more than 62 courts in

Tamil Nadu and remand prisoners are produced through VC from 9 Prisons. More than 10,000 prisoners per month are produced through VC.
