PASTOR’S MESSAGE 3 PASTOR’S MESSAGE 3
Dear brothers and sisters The parable of the talents is one of the so called parables of the Kingdom. The kingdom of God means that we are to let Jesus Christ be our King. Just and merciful as He is, He will demand of us, His servants, the fruits from those talents that we were given. And we have to notice that our Creator and Father delivers to us His goods. And we have to highlight the word “His” . His are the gifts. As Saint Thomas Aquinas remarks: He gave His goods, not the goods belonging to someone else. Some men are liberal (generous) well enough from the goods of another, but not from their own goods. The end of the parable is a clear description of the day of judgment. As Saint John Chrysostom says: These men acknowledge that they had received from him the means to carry out their duties well; they give witness to their great gratitude and render their accounts to him.
Saint Thomas points out that we are obliged to render an account of our actions and gifts. This is a clear teaching of our Lord. But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken (Mt 12:36). And: Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. (Mt 18:23) Therefore, let us always remember how much good we can bring out of the gifts that God has bestowed upon us and how much responsibility is given to us for this same reason. Let us acknowledge that we have receive them and then let us fructify.
Fr Javier Ibarra IVE Pastor PD: Speaking about talents and gifts, please check this announcement below. The Help us Grow project is meant to bring parishioners together and grow in the fructification of so many talents and gifts.
HELP US GROW, SATURDAY, DECEMBER 2nd The Help Us Grow Committee has a great opportunity for all parishioners to help prepare our Church for the upcom-ing Christmas season. On Saturday, December 2nd we will hold our next "Help Us Grow Saturday" event, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. On that day everyone who is willing and able are invited to help here in the Church and other buildings. This includes dusting the Altar; including the Statues and Stations of the Cross. We will be cleaning the Choir Loft, weather stripping windows and organizing Room 302. If you have an hour - or a morning - please consider joining us to build and strengthen our parish community and improve our facilities. That's December 2nd for Help Us Grow Saturday. Thank you for participating in this important effort.
