We’re Going Digital!

As you may already have noticed, The Cougar Chronicle

has branched off to a new way of delivering the news. In

partnership with the new multimedia center and the

expertise of Marcello, we are now able to make mini

video segments to share upcoming news and events.

In effort to save the environment and move with the

times, we are also sending out the newspaper via email

to faculty and staff, and posting a link to a pdf version of

the paper on our school’s website and on Facebook. A

printed paper copy will continue to be sent home in the

yellow folders for all students.

We hope that you enjoy the new changes and please let

us know what you want to see and hear about in the

paper. Stop by or send us an email.

Mr. Kemp Turns 65 by Jason Levy and Yocelin Euceda

2

On Monday, October 6, Mr. Kemp turned 65 . The entire school had a tie

-themed surprise party for him in the gym. Many classes made him birth-

day cards. Max Hermann read a quote on behalf of the senior class about

how great of a leader

he is. Mr. Kemp’s wife

organized a wonderful

party with cake and ice

cream for the kids. You

can see a poster in the

cafeteria of Mr. Kemp

riding a horse, signed

by many of the stu-

dents and staff.

The New Bending iPhone 6 by Lilly Murphy and Rayhana Elharji

The Apple company has had many flaws with the

iPhone 6. There is a very big flaw: it bends. When you

put it in your pocket and sit down, there is a chance the

phone will bend. This is more likely to happen to men

since they don’t carry phones in pocketbooks like wom-

en do. Apple says, “warping is extremely rare through

normal use.” Apple also says the new iPhones are made

of special aluminum materials for extra strength. The

phones also have stainless steel and titanium inserts for

extra protection from bending. We think that when

phones bend, it is the user’s fault because they are not

using it correctly.

Farewell to Jeter

By Marcos Taveras

Derek Jeter, considered one

of the best Yankees captains

in recent times, has retired

after a 20 year career. He

made his Yankees debut on

May 29, 1995, he has been

with the Yankees ever since.

In his 20 year career, he had

1,928 runs, 3,464 hits, 260

home runs, and 1,310 RBI. He

had a .309 batting average

for his entire career. He also

has 5 World Series titles and

has appeared in 14 All-Star

games. He will most surely be

inducted Baseball Hall of

Fame. He ended his career

with a game winning home-

run on his last at bat in Yan-

kee Stadium. I wonder who

else can end their career like

Derek Jeter did. Jeter will

certainly go down in history

as one of the greatest base-

ball players of all time.

New York Mets Visit Viscardi

By Victoria O’Brien

The New York Mets visited our

school on September 15th. The

Mets players who came were 1st

baseman Lucas Duda, 2nd base-

man Daniel Murphy and pitcher

Dillion Gee. The Met’s mascot,

Mr. Met was also here. They

came to play a game of wheel-

chair baseball with some of our

students. After the game, The

Mets players took some ques-

tions that the students had. They

then handed out free T-shirts for

the entire school! A big thank

you to the New York Mets for

coming. We hope to see you

again next year.
