DARE and Internal Affairs participated in this annual event where 54 elementary students were treated to Easter games, an egg hunt, prizes and pizza. The kids were excited when the EBRSO Easter Bunny stopped by to say hello and start the hunt. "We do it for the smiles," a volunteer said. The EBRSO Easter Bunny Capt. Randy Aguillard and Lt. Chiquita Broussard also visit- ed children at the Our Lady of the Lady Hospital for Easter. The bunny went to spread cheer and give the children and their siblings stuffed bunnies, Easter stickers, coloring books, and junior deputy badges.

DEPUTIES OF THE MONTH

Deputy Michael Lawley is the Corrections Deputy of the Month. Deputy Lawley has been employed with the EBRSO since September 2002. He has become contra-band location specialist. He has recovered countless pieces of contraband such as weapons, drugs, cell phones and tobacco on the prison grounds as well as in the kitchen area. His hard work has prevented these items from being introduced onto the lines in the prison. Deputy Lawley is a professional and reliable deputy.

Lena Lastrapes, Tax Enforcement Section, has been named the Civil Deputy of the Month. Ms. Lastrapes began her employment with Sheriff’s Office in August 1993. She has proven herself to be a valuable team player who willingly provided assis-tance to the employees in the Tax Office during the very busy tax season. Lena re-cently announced that she will retire on May 1, 2015. Congratulations!

Marjorie Guercio has been named the Administrative and Support Services Deputy of the Month. She was hired by the EBRSO on April 9, 2002, and has been assigned to Financial Crimes since March 2003. Her longevity in the Financial Crimes Division has allowed Margie to amass a great deal of knowledge and she is always willing to share that knowledge with others. Margie is always professional and courteous.

Deputy Benjamin Friedmann has been named the Uniform Patrol Deputy of the Month. Deputy Friedmann was hired by the Sheriff’s Office on Febru-ary 15, 2012, and he is currently assigned to the Kleinpeter Substation. He has proven himself to good all-around deputy who is very proficient in collecting evi-dence during the initial investigation of burglaries. His hard work paid off recently when a latent print he collected at a scene turned out to be the key piece of evi-dence used to identify the suspect in numerous burglaries.

Deputy Matthew Wolfe of the Narcotics Division has been named the Detectives and Special Operations Deputy of the Month. He was hired by the EBRSO on March 16, 2011 and he has only been assigned to Narcotics for a little over a year. During his brief tenure in Narcotics he has conducted numerous investigations which resulted in the arrests approximately 70 violators and the seizure of substantial amount of cash and illegal drugs. He is a team player who is always willing to help his co-workers with their investigations.
