Freedom The Freedom programme is for any woman who wishes to learn more about the reality of domestic violence and abuse. The 12, weekly, sessions of the programme are informal and friendly, with quizzes (it's okay, nobody is being tested!) activities and infor-mation sheets to help you understand the topics.

Nobody has to explain why they are there or disclose any personal infor-mation. Nor will we be telling you what to do in your situation or that your ex-periences are not as bad as someone else's.

Woman who have attended the pro-gramme say they leave thinking clearly for the first time in years and feel ready to change their life around. Crche and refreshments provided.

  • Safeguarding is everyones responsibility

Child abuse is more than bruises and broken bones. While physical abuse might be the most visible, other types of abuse, such as emotional abuse and neglect, also

leave deep, lasting scars. The earlier children that get abused get help, the greater

chance they have to heal and break the cycle. By learning about common signs of abuse and what you can do to intervene, you can make a huge difference in a

    childs life.

Not all child abuse is obvious. Ignoring childrens needs, putting them in unsupervised, dangerous situations, or making a child feel worthless or stupid are

also child abuse. All types of child abuse can lead to low self-esteem, difficulties in

forming and maintaining relationships, failure to thrive and future mental ill health.

    Steps 2 Wellbeing

Most of us feel sad, anxious, low or stressed now and again in response to particular events in our life. While for most this is short lived, for others it can cause ongoing distress, a sense of hopelessness and impact on the quality of your life and of those around you. Steps 2 Wellbeing can help, a

    confidential NHS programme you can

self refer to via the following ways.

    By phone 0300 1231120

    Online at www.steps2wellbeing.co.uk or

    Email [email protected] for more

    information.

By post or via your own GP.

Just because you may be feeling this way

now, doesnt mean it has to stay that way.

Family Support Service You may have noticed we offer a Family Support service, you may also be wondering what this is.

When life gets more difficult than usual, for whatever reason, family support workers give help and advice to get you through. Perhaps you have had enough of your childs behaviour and dont know how to change it, money worries may be getting you down or you would love to attend some of the groups we offer but just dont have the courage to make that first step .We meet people from all walks of life, and no two families are the same.

We have a team of 6 family support workers covering the East Dorset area. No worry is too small or too silly. Phone one of our centres and ask to speak to a family support worker, we may not be there to take your call but if you leave a message we will call you back.

We can meet you at the Childrens Centre or visit you at home and if we find cant help we will get you in touch with someone who can.
