The ECCO Center at RIT is dedicated to expanding the representation of AALANA
engineers and preparing students for leadership roles within the engineering profession.
ECCO ExperienceAccepted incoming AALANA students are hosted on campus for an overnight in collaboration with a Uni-versity Accepted Student Open House in the spring.
National Engineers WeekLocal students in grades 5th – 8th are invited for a day on campus to learn about engineering educa-tion and the many career paths for engineers.
Phone PowerCurrent engineering students outreach to potential AALANA engineering applicants to answer questions and invite them to the ECCO Experience.
Year-end Ice Cream SocialSocial event for AALANA students to encourage success on exams and celebrate graduating seniors.
MentoringUpper class students learn how to mentor incoming freshmen to ease the transition to college life—in academics and the larger college experience.
Meet the DeanSocial for incoming and current AALANA students to have a personal chat with the Dean.
MCAS (Multicultural Center for Academic Success)
Collaborative efforts provide social and networking events that support student success throughout their college careers
ECCO Power HourCasual weekly study breaks that include professional development opportunities, cultural awareness exercises, discussions, and celebrations.
Student chapters of professional organizations and special interest clubs provide a multitude of opportunities that enhance academics.

The Executive Advisory Board provides consistent guidance to the Director of the ECCO Center on diversity initiatives, strategic direction, programs, and partnerships. They also assist on collaborations with university-wide programs, College of Engineering faculty, industry, and other academic partners. This helps ensure that our efforts have a positive impact on student success.

Mission
The ECCO Center provides diversity initiatives and programs devoted to increasing the number of under-represented African American, Latino American, and Native American (AALANA) student engineers in the college.
