Land
Wet forests and
Rainforests
Special features • The shrub understory is often dense, so it
prevents continues regeneration of new trees e.g. eucalypts
• Alternatively the shrub understory could have a ground layer with ferns and rainforest trees are dominant
• Eucalypts forests can also be wet forests
Plants
• Plants in the wet forests and rainforests include:- Small trees such as dogwood, musk and blanket leaf.-Rainforest trees such as myrtle beech, sassafras and celerytop pine.
- Ash trees, ferns, slender tree-ferns, white gum, blue gum and stringy bark.
Animals
• Some of the animals that live in the wet forests and the rainforests are:
-Goannas -Lyre birds -Gliders -Pygmy possum -Eastern quoll -Long-nosed porteroo

Special features
• Humans rely on farms for food and medicinal uses.
• Agricultural ecosystems are designed and managed by humans
• The primary uses of agricultural ecosystems are: Production, consumption and decomposition.
• Some people also use their land to grow plants such as marijuana, (dyroxia)cocaine and opium poppies.
Plants and Animals
• Plants: wheat, rice, corn, potato, sugar beet, barley, sweet potato, soy bean, tomato bananas, beans, peas, oranges and wine grapes.
• Animals: Cattle, horses, sheep, ponies, swine, pultry, ox and fowl.
Marine
PelagicAny water or sea that is not near the shore or the bottom is said to be in the pelagic zone.
Special features
Depending on how deep the sea is, there can be up to five horizontal layers in the ocean: Epipelagic (sunlit)
Mesopelagic (twilight) Bathypelagic (deep ocean/midnight)
Abyssopelagic (lower midnight/the abyss) Hadopelagic (deepest part of the ocean)
Plants and Animals
Plants: plankton, floating seaweed.Animals: Whales, Dolphins, Sharks, sea
cucumbers, squids, pelagic fish, penguins, crustaceans, spiders, sea stars, amphipods and isopods.
