After lunch, enjoy a little lei-

making a final stop at

Mackey’s Ferry Peanuts. This is

sure to be a fun time of fellow-

ship and relaxation for all!

The Harlem Globetrotters are an international

phenomenon. They are known for their love of

basketball and creative on-the-court hoops

magic. Join us as we travel to Greenville, NC to

see their basketball wizardry first-hand!

Senior Spotlight...Getting to Know

our Members!

Mr. Lindsay Lee

Mr. Lindsay Lee was born and raised right here in Eliz-

abeth City. As a matter of fact, he was born in Albemarle

Hospital when it was on Riverside. That hospital later be-

came the first college that he attended, COA. After a few

years living away in Maryland to work in a church and then

Norfolk working at the shipyard, Mr. Lee returned to his

home town. He inherited his uncle’s house and began a

career as a civil servant in the Aircraft Repair and Supply

Center at the US Coast Guard base.

Mr. Lee has always been active in the community.

He has played, coached and officiated various sports. He

has three sons that all live in this area as well. When he is

not busy taking care of his grandson, he likes to spend time

in the Senior Center’s billiards room. He enjoys the fellow-

ship. He encourages fellow seniors to, “Get out and enjoy

your senior center. There are a lot of people there to asso-

ciate with.”

Mr. Lee has survived three heart attacks, five bypass

surgeries and a bout with Hodgkin’s-related lymphoma. He

says that, “The Lord has something for me to do that I have-

n’t completed yet.” He encourages young people to “Find

something you like to do and do it. Don’t go into a job be-

cause you feel compelled just to pay the bills.”

Members are chosen by the staff at random for the Senior Spotlight! Be ready...YOU may be next!
