GENERAL INFORMATION
Cables for structural applications with high tensile strength are used in suspended structures, bridges, pedestrian bridges, stay cables for flares and radio transmission towers etc. The flexibility application of the rope offers several architectural solutions and relief in building structures, metal structures and structural reinforcement. The better ropes that for breaking strength and stretch under load, for these applications are locked coil cable and open spiral strand compared with flexible ropes normally used for lifting.
SPIRAL STRANDSAn assembly of a minimum of two layers of wires laid helically over a central wirestrand an element of rope normally consisting of an assembly of wires of appropriate shape and dimensions laid helically in the same or opposite direction in one or more layers around a centre• Spiral strands rope is more stiffer than the corresponding rope stranded having less wires.• Spiral strands rope has lower elongation in inelastic field (wires adjustment in the wire rope).• Spiral strands rope has greater tensile strength and metal section for a given diameter than a wire rope.• Spiral strands rope has a higher elastic modulus (lower elongation under load) of wire ropes.• Spiral strands rope has excellent surface protection against oxidation for high weight of zinc. The open spiral strand are produced with
finally galvanized wire in class “A” according to EN 10264-ISO 2232.• Spiral strands rope cannot bent over thimbles and connected with connected wire rope clips.
WIRE ROPESAn assembly of several strands laid helically in one or more layers around a core (fiber or metallic rope)Wire ropes with fibre core are not used as permanent structural elements for bridges stay cables etc.• Easy to handle because it is very flexible, the saddles and the supports are smaller than the corresponding single-strand ropes used for
Spiral strands.

SIRTEFProgramma funi strutturali - Steel Wire Ropes for structural applications
• The wire rope being more flexible accepting smaller bend radius.• For its greater flexibility, the wire rope accept deflection angles to the exit from clamps and saddle bigger than the OSS.• Resistant cross section less of the open spiral strand.• Elastic modulus is less than means more stretching under load.• Poor surface protection against pollution agent because the zinc weight on the wires surface is poor.• These ropes are usually delivered with class “B” galvanization according to EN 10264-ISO 2232.• The wire rope can be easily bent of thimbles and connected with wire rope clips.
TERMINI E DEFINIZIONI
TERMS AND DEFINITION
Minimum breaking force (Fmin)Specified value in kN, below which the measured breaking force (Fm) is not allowed to fall in a prescribed breaking force test.
Calculated minimum breaking force (Fc.min)Value of minimum breaking force based on the nominal wire sizes, wire tensile strength grades and spinning loss factor for the rope class or construction as given in the manufacturer’s rope design.
Measured breaking force (Fm) (actual breaking force)Breaking force obtained using a prescribed method destroying a sample (tensile strength).

SIRTEF Programma funi strutturali - Steel Wire Ropes for structural applications
Modulus of elasticityPhysical constant of the rope function of the rope construction it is determined experimentally and it is the ratio between units effort in the cable and length change within a defined period of effort. It is important to note that wire ropes do not possess a Young’s Modulus of Elasticity, but an ‘apparent’ Modulus of Elasticity can be determined between two fixed loads. The modulus of apparent elasticity is affected by three factors:1) Elastic Stretch of the wires.2) Elastic elongation as a result of a change in the structure of the rope (spring effect).3) Permanent elongation as a result of an adjustment in the structure of the rope.
The last point is dependent by the time in that it deformation on the rope as a settling of the elements that compose it (wires, strand, core) and happen more or less rapidly depending on the intensity of the applied force, the composition and rope formation. This adjustment field inelastic produce an elongation of the lay pitch and then the rope.
StiffnessThe characteristic stiffnesses shall be calculated from the nominal geometricaI data of section and the apparent elastic modulus and is the result of the product of modulus of elasticity (E) for the area (A) of the rope.
Elongation under loadIn the calculation of the increase in elongation ropes under load is important keep in mind the value of elastic modulus as different from that of steel and different from rope to rope. The elongation of the ropes under load, the elastic field can be calculated as follows: DL = L*F E*Swhere:DL = length variation in mm / F = force on the rope in N / A = metal cross section in mm2 / L = rope length in mm / E = elasticity modulus in MPa
CARATTERISTICHE TECNICHE
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Length’s tolleranceThe ropes can be measured and marked with a pulling force equal to that project. When not specified the measurement is made with rope without load to ambient temperature of 18/20°C with the following tolerance both end fittings applied by swaging process and sockets applied molten metal.DL = ± ( √L + 5)Dove: L in m / √L in mm
Thermal expansionIncrease/decrease in length derived from the temperature variationDL = L • at • Dtwhere:L = initial length / Dt = temperature difference (t2-t1)/ at = linear termical expansion coefficient(Galvanized ropes: at = 12 • 10-6 per °C - Stainless steel ropes: at = 16 • 10-6 per °C )

This elongation and/or shortening (length difference) produces a force on the rope which may be calculate as follows:DF = at • E • A • (t2-t1)Where:A = metallic area / E = modulus of elasticity / t1 = temperature measured °C / t2 = reference temperature °C
STOCCAGGIO E CONSERVAZIONE
STORAGE
Rope and accessory are made with surface protection at different level, according to the order specification, and the package was been made for long time outdoor storage (12 month). However, Sirtef suggest, if the material will be exposed to atmospheric conditions, to take care to preserve the package. In case of damage of the packing you could have a big problems during the installation activities, hazards for workers and damages for the goods. For these reason we suggest to use a protection for the packaging, for examples cover the goods with plastic sheeting.

The equipment are light weight and easy to use. These devices are manufactured in high resi-stance aluminum alloy with a high safety coefficient. They are stainless and insensitive to impacts and hits. Their structure requires almost no main-tenance. Sirtef lifting equipment offers excellent work safety: the locking pin located in the lever of the rope movement breaks with a 25% overload. In addition, the moving arm is built in such a manner that the lower portion will get deformed with approximately 50% overload. The locking pin can be replaced with the equipment in operation without need to remove the traction rope.In the moving arm’s handle there are some locking pins.Sirtef equipment are easy and quick to clean thanks to an opening located in their upper portion; it is sufficient to wash them with pressurized water and they are clean and ready to use. All the devices come with an original Sirtef steel wire rope with steel core and orange colored rope strandCorrect operation of equipment is guaranteed only when using the original rope. The original standard version includes: traction and lifting equipment with lever and a 20 mt. long rope rolled up on a spool. At the end of the rope there is a firmly assembled safety hook while the other end is tapered.

Unless otherwise agreed, the goods will be invoiced at the prices in force at the time of despatch. All prices are net of duties and taxes.
In nessun caso potremmo essere chiamati a rispondere per mancata od irregolare consegna da parte delle ferrovie, imprese di navigazioni, di trasporti, corrieri ecc restando assolutamente ed esplicitamente inteso che la merce, anche se per speciali accordi venduta in porto franco, oppure, consegnata a domicilio dal Cliente viaggia sempre a rischio e pericolo dell’acquirente.TRANSPORT - Unless specially agreed to be otherwise, the costs of transport to their destination and any other expense or that must be borne by the goods are a charge on the purchaser. In no case can we be liable for loss or irregular delivery on the part of the railways, forwarding and shipping companies, transporters, couriers, etc. and this means absolutely and explicitly that the goods, even if they are sold by special agreement as free at port, or delivered to the purchasers premises, travel at the risk and peril of the purchaser.
Non si accetta ritorno di merce consegnata in ritardo.DELIVERY - The delivery terms that are indicated and accepted are intended to be valid only under normal working conditions. Wars, strikes, epidemics, transport interruptions, shortage of materials, accidents and any other event that causes the total or partial su-spension of work are causes of force majeur that authorise us to cancel or suspend orders and contracts. For goods offered or sold before customs clearance the delivery terms shall not in any case be binding on us and any late delivery for causes not dependent upon us or our foreign suppliers cannot constitute a reason for annulling the order or late payment or claim for damage on the part of the purchaser.
This applies also to packaging and any other cost borne by the goods. For very important orders or special supplies we reserve the right to request partial or total payment in advance or cash on delivery. In the case of insolvency, even partial, on the part of the pur-chaser, interest on arrears will be applied at the BCE interest rate plus seven percent in compliance with Legislative Decree no. 231 of 09.10.2002
To be able to be taken into consideration, every claim must be based on concrete and precise factual data. No claim for faults, defects, the nature and quality of the goods, late delivery (if expressly accepted by us as one of the terms of delivery), can be considered, not even in law proceedings, if normal payment for the consignment to which the claim refers has not been made. In the case of return of goods that are the subject of a claim, these must be despatched to us free at port at the risk of the sender, in contravention of which we can refuse to collect them.
