Dr. Robert Davis
Currently teaching MGT 4330—Production and
Operations Management
Spring 2017 finds itself being Dr. Davis’s final semester with Texas State University. He is looking forward to his well-
earned transition into retirement and long, relaxing fishing excursions. Dr. Davis’s career with Texas State began Sept 2002, but he began teaching at Texas A&M in Aug 1982. His teaching interests include: Operations Management, Quality Management, Lean Manufacturing & Data Mining.
Dr. Davis’s time with Texas State has been quite versatile, spending time in the Computer Information Systems & Quantitative Methods (CIS & QMST) Department, the Management Department and serving 8 years as Associate Dean for the Graduate Business Programs. Interestingly enough, his first paying job was as a dishwasher at a Sears Luncheon Diner, at age 16.
When asked what drew him to teaching, he said, “I am a Vietnam Veteran and served for 8 years in the military. Five of those years I was teaching in a technical school for the electrical power line specialty. That is where I started thinking about teaching as a profession.”
Thank you sir, for your service to our country, students and faculty!
