Who Are We?

• Reinvigorate Science and Mathematics Teaching

• PD responsibility to assist schools across the state

• Encourage more students to go on to STEM courses

What We Do

• Students have access to information all the time

• “Portal” used to– Store information–Provide space for collaboration• between staff• Between students• Between staff and students

Use of (Mobile) Technology• Students have access to desk top computers

around the building BUT–Most have laptops• PC, Mac, Tablet, Linux etc

–Phones used to • Record lessons– Image– Video

• Create multimodal presentations• Contact teachers and peers

Use of Social Media

• Used at different levels by different teachers– “You can lead a horse to water ……”– They will use what they are comfortable with

• Facebook used to connect teachers with their class beyond the Portal

• Students follow staff at conferences on Twitter, Instagram

Assessment / Demonstrations of Learning

• Students sit traditional tests but also– Make Documentaries• Prac reports• History videos• Photostories

– Learning Journals– Public Presentations to class or larger groups– Displays
