Seminar on Information Literacy in Engineering

A seminar on Information Literacy in Engineering wasorganized at the Institute on 16 July, 2019. The invitedexpert was Dr. Sheetal Tank, Chief Librarian, AtmiyaUniversity, Rajkot. The topics covered during the seminarincluded importance of literature review in research,methods for conducting literature survey, type of researchpapers, use of reference management tools, etc. Theseminar was attended by students of UG and PG programsas well as faculties.

Expert Talk on iOS Design Patterns

Department of Computer Engineering organized anexpert talk on iOS Design Patterns on 13 July, 2019for students of BE Sem. 5 and 7. Invited expert wasMr. Rushi Sangani, Senior iOS Developer at RBGroup.aero, Pune. During the session expertcovered introduction to UI & UX design patterns,benefits and drawbacks of using clean SwiftArchitecture and how effectively it can be used inthe industries. Talk also included discussion of fewcase studies related to the technology.

Two Week Workshop on HTML, CSS & Java Script

Department of Computer Engineering organized two week workshop on HTML, CSS & JavaScript during 24 June to 5 July, 2019 for the students of BE Sem. 3 Computer Engineering. Theworkshop covered Introduction to HTML, Multimedia and embedding, HTML tables, HTMLforms, Introduction to CSS, Styling text, Styling boxes, CSS layout JavaScript - Dynamic client-sidescripting, JavaScript building blocks, JavaScript objects, etc. Workshop also included case studiesand practical sessions. The workshop was conducted as a part of skill development activities atthe Department.

Industrial Shodh Yatra – Summer Internship 2019

With the aim to identify the problem and find a solution resulting in a better product or moreefficient process, students of Department of Mechanical Engineering BE Sem. 7 undergone 15days summer internship. During this internship, students got opportunity to understandworking environment of industry and also attempted to identify an industrial problem andsolution to it. Along with technical knowledge, students also understood importance ofcommunication skills and team work. Total 48 students participated in this internship at variousindustries that includes Gujarat Heavy Chemical Limited, Atul Auto Limited, P. M. Diesel Pvt. Ltd.,Topland Engine Pvt. Ltd., Panchnath Auto Limited, Amtech Investment Pvt. Ltd., PrimeIndustries, Advantech Casting Pvt. Ltd., Cargill India Pvt. Ltd., Echjay Steel, Delta Technocast Pvt.Ltd. , etc.

Industrial visit at NC-12B, Hadala Pumping Station

Department of Electrical Engineering organizedindustrial visit at NC-12B, Hadala Pumping Station on24 July, 2019 for their students of BE Sem 3. Theobjective of the visit was to introduce students withpractical implementation of large and medium sizemotors and their applications along with otherequipment in pumping station. During the visit studentsgot opportunity to observe and learn various apparatusand their functioning at pumping station. Further, theyalso got information about SAUNI Yojana, its layout andconnectivity between different pumping stations.Students also visited control room at the pumpingstation and understood control and monitoring ofdifferent parameters through data acquisition system.

Industrial visit at Synnova Gears & Transmission Pvt. Ltd.

Department of Mechanical Engineering organized anindustrial visit for their students of BE Sem. 7 atSynnova Gears & Transmissions Pvt. Ltd., Rajkot. Thevisit was organized on 20 July, 2019. The company ispioneer in manufacturing quality gear products fortractor, farm automotives and heavy industries. Duringthe visit, students observed various gearmanufacturing processes like gear hobbing, gearbroaching and gear shaping. They also learnt abouthow the gears are heat treated after its manufacturingand how they are checked for quality assurance.Students also got a chance to interact with companypersonals.

Industrial visit at 400kV Substation Hadala

Department of Electrical Engineering organizedindustrial visit at 400kV substation Hadala on 05 July,2019 for their students of BE Sem. 7. During the visitstudents were able to observe and understandpractical implementation of various high voltageequipments in power transmission system. Studentsvisited 66kV, 220kV and 400kV switchyards. Apartfrom these, students also got chance to visit controlroom at the substation where they understood powerflow and other electrical parameters being monitoredby data acquisition system.

Industrial visit at Bajrang Cold Storage, Kagdadi

Industrial visit at Bajrang Cold Storage, Kagdadi was organized on 26 July, 2019 for students DESem. 5 at Department of Mechanical Engineering Diploma studies. Total of 42 Studentsparticipated in the visit. The basic objective of the visit was to give field exposure to industrialrefrigeration system used in cold storage. During the visit students could study overall plantlayout of compounded vapour compression system.

Industrial visit at Synergy Transformer PVT. LTD.

Students of DE Sem. 3 and 5 of Department ofElectrical Engineering Diploma studies visitedSynergy Transformers, Rajkot on 26 July, 2019.The company is associated with manufacturing ofDistribution transformers as well as specialpurpose transformers like, Furnace transformer,Power transformer, Low loss transformer, Drytype transformer, etc. During the visit studentscould observe manufacturing as well as testingprocedures.

Department of Mechanical Engineering organized anindustrial visit for students of BE Sem. 3. at RupkalaEngineers Pvt. Ltd., Rajkot. The visit was organized on 22July, 2019. Rupkala Engineers is well equipped with highlysophisticated CNC and automated machines like CNChorizontal machining center, CNC vertical machiningcenter, CNC turn mill center, CNC turning center, CNChobbing, etc. The company is equipped with CNC lead andprofile testing equipment also. During the visit studentsgot a chance to observe and learn about all these advancetechnologies.

Industrial visit at Amul Industry Pvt. Ltd. (Unit-8), Rajkot

Industrial visit at Amul Industry Pvt. Ltd. (Unit-8), Rajkot was organized by Department ofMechanical Engineering for students of BE Sem.5 on 11 July, 2019. The company is one of theleading companies in manufacturing ofconnecting rod. During the visit students couldstudy various machining processes carried outon connecting rod like rough grinding, freegrinding, chamfer, taper milling, etc. During thevisit students also got a chance to learn aboutmaterial used for connecting rods.

Industrial visit at Water Treatment Plant, Rajkot

Department of Civil Engineering at Diploma studies organized an industrial visit for students ofDE Sem. 5 at Water Treatment Plant, Raiyadhar, Rajkot on 6 July, 2019. During the visit studentsgot chance to study various water purification processes like screening, sedimentation, aeration,filtration, chlorination, softening of water, etc.

Book-Talk

A book talk is a short presentation about a book withthe goal of convincing others to read it. Rather then aformal book report or review, book talk motivatereaders towards reading the book. In month of July twobook-talk were organized by Library. The first in theseries was by invited expert Mr. Vijay Tank on the bookWho will Cry When you Die by Robin Sharma on 1 July,2019. The second book talk was on book titled ThirteenReasons Why authored by Jay Asher. This book-talk wasdelivered on 23 July, 2019 by Aushi Jha and ParitaDhameliya, students of BE Sem. 5 ComputerEngineering.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan - Clean Campus Day

As a part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan,Clean Campus Day was celebrated at theInstitute on 12 July, 2019. Around 70+students along with facultiesparticipated in the event. As a part of theprogram they cleaned the campus anddemonstrated their awareness andcommitment towards cleanliness.

Department of Computer Engineering organized an expert talk on Application AutomationTesting on 29 July, 2019 for students of BE Sem. 5 and 7. Invited expert was Mr. Kishan DongaSoftware Developer, Synoverge Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Ahmedabad. During the session expertcovered overview of Mobile Test Automation, Introduction to Appium, Appium concept,installation, platform support and its specific capabilities. Talk also included discussion of fewcase studies related to the technology.
