Know … 

• Know the audience – Who should your communication be to?

 – What do they know already?

 – What do they want to know?

Know the subject –  Are you sure about what you say?

• Know the media

 – Personal, presentation, telecon, email, bulletin board, document

• Know the communication

 –  Are the audience aware of the context?

 –  Are the audience able to follow what you say?

 –  Are the audience comfortable interrupting you?

 –  Avoid spelling and grammar mistakes.
