    Greetings frora the Land

    of smiles . After

    a

    long year

    of

    fund

    raising

    we are

    finally

    here in

    Thailand. We

    had

    a pleasant but

    tiring journey.

    A

total of hours of delays in our flights added

    to

    the problem

    of our jet lag .

    We are

    adjusting well

    to

    the Thai

    culture.

    The

    hardest adjustment

to make is to the Thai food.

    We

    are staying with Mary Parkhurst,

    librarian

    at CBI,

    and she eats

    a

    lot of

    American food

    so

    this is

    making the adjustment easier.

    Tracy

    and

Dawn are loving Thailand. They are so happy with their

    new

friends and school. They seem to

    be

    adapting with no

    problems,

    At

their school, in addition to the

    regular

    subjects, the girls

    also study

    the Thai

    language

    two

    days

    a week.

/ Rosemary and I began our language study on Jan.

    24.

    It is

    a

    slow

    tedious process trying to learn

    a

    new language,

    but it is

    very

    exciting

    to go out in the

    town and the

    market

    places

    and try to

    converse with

    the people in

    their native tongue. We

    will continue

    to study

    language 6-8

    hours

    a

    day

    for at

    least

    the

    first six

    months

    The current

    academic dean,

    Walt Prevost,

    is

    leaving CBI after our

    graduation on

    April

    2. During

    my

first staff meeting on Jan. 18

    Peter Sutjaibun, president of CBI,

    asked me if I would

    take over

the position of academic dean. So

    from now until

    Walt leaves,

    I

    will

    be working closely with him

    to

    be able

    to

    make

    a

    smooth

    transition into this

    work.

    I will assume full duties

    of

    academic

    deam in addition to

    my

    teaching responsibilities with the next

    school term

    beginning

    in June. Please pray for

    me

    in this new

    work

We are currently looking for housing, A nice three-bedroom house

    is

    empty

close to CBI and right next door to where we

    are

    now

    staying. We

    are

    in

    the

    process

    of

    bartering

    for a price

    with

    the owner. However, he wants

    a

large deposit of $500-600 so I

    don't

know if we can afford that. Pray that God will provide

    our

    need and find

    suitable

    housing for us.
