Most of us could name an occasion or two in which we have done something foolish. We did not stop to consider the consequences of our actions and regretted them in the end. The sort of foolishness we are considering here, however, is more than simple impulsive behavior and has eternal consequences. To be foolish in the eyes of God is to ignore the ways in which we know we are called to behave— toward God, others, and ourselves. The five foolish brides- maids did not fail in their duties through their actions, but rather through inaction. Like them, we may fail to be ready to meet our Lord, through inaction as much as through our actions. In these final weeks of the liturgical year, we are urged to take stock. How are we, or are we not, living as people whose faith directs our lives? Are we foolish through sinful action or inaction? Do we care for others and for ourselves, as we know we ought? Or do we act instead as though we have all the time in the world in which to embrace Christ’s way of mercy, forgiveness, justice, love, and peace? Do we fail to recognize that Christian discipleship is a way of life? Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc. BE WISE, BE READY This urging to be ready for Christ’s return is not intended to frighten us, but rather to focus our attention on the things that matter. Wisdom lies in seeking God in all things. With the Psalmist, the wise person prays, “My soul is thirsting for you, O Lord my God” (Psalm 63:2b). Christ’s way is not hidden from us, as though we are playing a game of hide and seek. It is “readily perceived” (Wisdom 6:12) by all who love God. We know the way through the Ten Commandments, the Beatitudes, Christ’s great command to wash one another’s feet, to love and serve with glad hearts. To act accordingly is to be wise, and those who are wise will be ready. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc. THIRTY-SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME NOVEMBER 12, 2017

TRIGÉSIMO SEGUNDO DOMINGO DEL TIEMPO ORDINARIO:

12 DE NOVIEMBRE

NO SER TONTO ¿Qué significa ser tonto? ¿Qué significa ser

inteligente?

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS

I am hoping you all had a great week full of blessings. Please do not forget our monthly pancake breakfast next week. Come by and enjoy a delicious meal prepared by our Knights. Nothing is better than some warm pancakes on these chilly days. This Thursday, November 16th at 6:00 p.m., there will be Memorial Mass for all the departed brother Knights. If you are family or knew a departed brother Knight, please come and honor them as we dedicate this special Mass. As we prepare for this time of giving, may all of you and your families be blessed.

God bless, Jose Garcia, Grand Knight

CATHOLIC COMPAIGN FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT Next week, our second collection will be for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. Over 46 million people in the United States live in poverty. This collection supports programs to empower people to identify and address the obstacles they face as they work to lift themselves out of poverty. By supporting this collection you give people a hand up, not a hand out. Learn more about the Catholic Campaign for Human Development at www.usccb.org/cchd/collection.

News from Faith Formation

On November 11th, as American’s celebrate Veteran’s day, we also look to the Holy men and women who have stood up for PEACE in our world. Interestingly, 11/11 is the feast day of St. Martin de Tours. Martin became a soldier at the age of 15. When 18, he received the sacrament of Holy Baptism. Soon after he asked to be released from the army, stating:

"With the sign of the Cross, I shall more certainly break through the ranks of the enemy than if armed

with shield and sword." St. Martin de Tours, pray for us.
