Services Include:• Prenatal services• Curriculum base programming• Postpartum depression screenings• Toolbox for new dads• Resource books on oral health, pregnancy and

sick children• Family services• Mental health• Nutrition services• Parent activities• Volunteer opportunities

Early Head Start is a state and federally funded program which gives priority to limited income families and the families of children with special needs. There is no cost for families enrolled in Early Head Start.

Health and NutritionHead Start nurses will promote a nutrition-al and balanced diet to help with the develop-ment of your unborn child. They will promote regular exercise, and talk about healthy eating, SIDS, shaken baby syndrome and safe sleep. A child’s healthy development begins in the womb.

Parent InvolvementThe staff at Early Head Start know that as a parent, you are the first and most important teacher your child will have. Your involvement with our Head Start program is welcomed and encouraged.

Parents may attend monthly trainings on topics such as child development, nutrition, health issues, community resources and job training. Parents also have the opportunity to serve on planning committees and policy mak-ing groups. Past volunteers often report that their experiences with Head Start led to quality employment later.
