46. I don’t like it when it rains at the weekend because then I can’t work in the garden. When I’m at work during the week it doesn’t matter if it rains, but I think it should be sunny at the weekend. If it doesn’t rain, I work in the garden. When it rains, I usually watch television or read.

47. I often go out in the evenings if I don’t have anything to eat in the house and I’m feeling lazy. Sometimes I get a pizza and sometimes I go to a restaurant. There’s one near my house which I like very much. It’s Turkish food and quite cheap and really very good, so I usually go there if I don’t want to cook.

48. I work in a big office in the city. I work from nine to five and have half an hour for lunch. I usu-ally stay in the office for lunch and eat a sandwich. My colleagues are very nice but I don’t know them very well. I answer the telephone and write letters and it’s quite interesting. I get three weeks holiday a year.

49. Last year we went to Cornwall but we usually go abroad in the summer. It was nice staying in England though, as it was cheaper and the weather was very good. We stayed in a house which we rented and did most of the cooking ourselves. It was really nice but I think next year we’ll go somewhere else.

50. Well, Jim lives in Scotland with his wife Susie. They have three kids, Lisa, Sam and Ben and two dogs. We don’t visit them very often, but always have a good time when we go there as our children get on very well with theirs. They have a big house and a nice garden so they all play outside if the weather is nice.

55. – 60. Lesen Sie die Texte. Welcher Begriff beschreibt das Thema des Textes?

a. buying and sellingb. choices

c. eating outd. holiday problems

e. learning Englishf. personal information

55. I can cook the food from my own country better than most restaurants so I like to go to places where I can eat food from other countries. I like trying new things at home and in restaurants, especially on holiday. I’m going to an Indian restaurant with some friends this evening. That will be something new for me.

56. I think it’s more important to remember words than to know all the grammar. I often read English books, usually on holiday, and try and remember some new words. I want to be fluent if I can, but I don’t think it’s a big problem if I make some mistakes. The important thing is that people can understand me. I can usually get what I want in restaurants and shops on holiday.

57. I went shopping yesterday at one of those big shopping malls. You know we only have small shops in our village and I wanted to buy some new clothes for myself and the children. There were so many things to choose from that I didn’t know where to begin. It was a real problem!

58. I went to a garage sale for the first time last week. A friend of mine had a lot of things she didn’t want and decided to sell them. You can really get good second-hand things at places like that. I bought a clock and some books and am really happy about them. Some people don’t like buying things that aren’t new but I don’t mind at all.

59. Well, first Phil didn’t feel well after he ate something from a stall on the beach and then Jessica got a sun allergy. We were at the chemist every day, it seemed! Then we all had headaches because we stayed in the sun too long. So after that, we only ate in restaurants and didn’t go out too much in the afternoon. I think next year we’ll stay at home!

60. What can I tell you about myself? I’m 53 years old and come from the North of England. I live in Germany now and only go to England for my holidays. I like living in Germany and don’t miss England at all. Maybe it’s because I chose to live here that I don’t have any problems with life here. Many Ger-mans speak English, but of course life is easier if you speak German. I speak German quite fluently.

23. – 27. Lesen Sie folgenden Text. Dann lesen Sie die Aussagen unten und entscheiden Sie, ob richtig oder falsch.

ELGIE’s is a really nice restaurant for breakfast on the corner of Hayborn Avenue and Wiltshire Terrace, right in the centre of the city. The people who work there are very friendly. Lots of students and young people eat there as well as people who work nearby.

The food is tasty and breakfast is served from when ELGIE’s opens at 8.00 a.m. until 12 noon. I can recommend the real English breakfast, or if you are really hungry and have a bit more money to spend, the full Texas breakfast with steak and pancakes. You don’t need to eat for the rest of the day after that! For lunch there’s a salad bar as well as lots of different sandwiches. And it’s all very reasonably priced, so you can get a good meal for not much money.

Unfortunately ELGIE’s closes at 5.00 p.m. so you can’t eat there in the evening, but there are other restaurants nearby which are open until later. Some of them are quite good.

36. – 40. Lesen Sie folgenden Text. Dann lesen Sie die Aussagen unten und entscheiden Sie, ob richtig oder falsch.

Jessica’s experience in an international work camp Last summer I worked in a work camp in Finland. It was a wonderful experience. I live in Germany and so I had to fly to get to Finland. There were young people from all over the world at the camp. I met the other people in Helsinki at the airport and then we travelled together to another town in Finland. We slept in tents and cooked our own food. Everyone had to cook something from their country. There was nobody from Finland so we didn’t eat any Finnish food! We stayed for two weeks and while we were there we did work in the village and helped local people, for example by painting the church hall or helping old people in their homes and gardens. In the evening we played games and talked a lot. We all spoke English but there was nobody from England in the camp. I made a lot of friends from all over the world and had a wonderful time. We still write to each other and I have met some of the people again. This year I am visiting a friend from the work camp in Taiwan.
