Who?

This is Ellen Ochoa, who was born on May 10 1958 in Los Angeles, California. She was an Astronaut.

WHAT DID SHE DO?

Ellen Ochoa was the first Hispanic female astronaut to go to space! Later on in her life, she became the first Hispanic Director of NASA’s Johnson Space Center and only the 2nd female.WHERE DID SHE GO?

Ellen Ochoa went on many missions to space. She has gone to the international space station twice. In fact, she was actually a member of the first docking for the ISS. On her missions, she and her crew sent out the satellites SPARTAN, ATLAS-3, and CRISTA-SPAS.

WHEN?

Ellen became an astronaut in 1990, and went on her first mission in 1993.

WHY DID SHE WANT TO GO

TO SPACE?

Ellen had many interests, which is why she changed her major 5 times! Eventually she got into physics, and NASA selected her to be in the 1990 astronaut program.

César ChávezCesar Chavez was an American Civil Rights activist

and organizer. Cesar Chavez is known for fighting and

protesting for the farm workers who worked in harsh

conditions such as poor treatment and low wages,

despite their hard work. Cesar protested against this

injustice and founded the National Farm Workers

Association (later known as United Farm Workers) in

1962. This organization used nonviolent acts to take a

stand. Such as, hunger strikes, boycotts, and marches.

Cesar Chavez was born on March 31, 1927, in Yuma,

Arizona. Cesar is Mexican American and grew up as a

migrant farmworker. Cesar witnessed first hand the

terrible management and treatment in the fields, with

his family. He experienced and saw the unfair acts of

Jennifer Lopez is a Puerto Rican actress and musician who began appearing in films in the late 1980s and quickly became one of the highest-paid Latina actresses in the history of Hollywood.

Jennifer Lopez is a singer, dancer, entrepreneur, voice actor, choreographer etc

Jennifer Lopez was born on July 24, 1969 in New York City, New York.

At the age of five, Jennifer began taking singing and dancing lessons. She toured New York with her school when she was seven years old.

Her parents had saved up enough money to be able to purchase a two-story house, which was considered a big deal for the relatively poor family. So she wanted to find a way to help her parents out.

She’s has many roles in a lot of movies and shows such as One Day At a Time, West Side Story, Singin’ in the Rain, Rio 2 and many more. She truly is a big influence to every Latinx everywhere.

Jorge Ramos Jorge Ramos was a famous Hispanic American Journalist and author. He is known as the best-known Spanish-language news anchor in the United States of America, He was born on March 16, 1958. He wrote the books called Latino Wave, No borders, The Other Face of America.

● Who was Albert Baez? Albert baez is an inventor.

● He invented the x-ray reflecting the microscope.

● At Stanford University he learned his physics in 1950

● Albert Baez and Dr. Paul KirkPatrick invented the x-ray in 1950.

● He invented the x-ray so doctors can examine parts of a human's body.

Dolores Huerta is a haspanic activist who played a big role to help fight for women's rights

Dolores Clara Fernández Huerta is an American labor leader and civil rights activist who, with Cesar Chavez, is a co-founder of the National Farmworkers Association, which later became the United Farm Workers.

Dolores did this because she didn’t believe in what they were doing to people. She has spent most of her life as a political activist, fighting for better working conditions for farmworkers and is a firm believer in the power of political organizing to effect change.

In 1955 Huerta began her career as an activist.

Felicitas MendezA Puerto Rican ActivistFelicitas Gomez Martinez de Mendez, was born in 1916 in puerto Rico, she is most known for suing a school district in the town of Westminster, California;after her children were refused enrollment at a local public school because of their skin color and heritage. Mendez married a mexican immigrant. She and other parents came together demanding the school district allow their Mexican-American children entry to an all white school. A federal district court in 1946 ruled that school districts were violating Mexican American citizens rights, and ruled in favor of Mendez and the parents.

The ruling pathed a way for the landmark decision of, Brown v.s Board of Education.

Roberto Clemente

Roberto Clemente was one of the most beloved baseball players in the history of sports. The Puerto Rican right fielder played 18 seasons for the Pittsburgh Pirates and was a Gold Glove Award winner. Clemente was delivering aid to earthquake victims in Nicaragua when his plane crashed. He died on December 31, 1972. He became the first Latin American and Caribbean player to be enshrined in the National Baseball Hall of Fame after his untimely death in 1972.

Justice Sonia SotomayorSonia Sotomayor es jueza adjunta de la Corte Suprema de los Estados Unidos. Ella es puertorriqueña. Fue nominada por presidente Barack Obama el 26 de mayo de 2009 y ha servido desde el 8 de agosto de 2009. Sotomayor es la primera miembro hispana y latina de la corte.

Que? Ella es especializada en ayudar a la gente con los diferentes problemas que tienen.

Donde? Ella tiene su estudio en la Florida que se llama ‘Caso Cerrado’ donde alla se presenta muchos casos

Cuando? Ella ha tenido este programa por muchos años y es alguien que muchos hispanos conoce.

Porque? La gente va por los problemas que tengan en las vidas, y ella les ayuda y saca la solución.

Quien?: Antonia C. Novella es un Médico puertorriqueño y administrador de salud pública.

Que?: Novello fue la primera mujer, la primera persona de color y la primera hispana en servir como Cirujano General.

Donde?: Estado de Nueva York

Cuando?: Novello también se desempeñó como Comisionado de Salud del Estado de Nueva York de 1999 a 2006.

Por que?: En 1976, Novello abrió su propia práctica privada en Springfield, Virginia, donde trabajó como pediatra. Sin embargo, pronto se dio cuenta de que carecía de un desapego emocional adecuado para su trabajo, por lo que terminó su práctica, pero se fue porque llegó a apegarse emocionalmente a sus pacientes.
