EL PACTO DE GRACIA COVENANT OF GRACE SPANISH MINISTRY
Greetings from Chicago Heights, Illinois! I am thankful for this opportunity
to update you on the Spanish ministry in the South Suburbs of Chicago. Many
things have happened since the last newsletter. On May 11th, Ruben Zartman
graduated from Mid-America Reformed Seminary. Both Ruben and Heidi Zartman
faithfully and lovingly served the saints at El Pacto while Ruben was studying at
MARS. For over a month, Ruben has been serving the English ministry of Ebenezer
Reformed Church (RCUS) in Shafter, California. He is also working alongside Rev.
Valentin Alpuche (El Pacto’s first pastor) who began another Spanish ministry in
Shafter 3 years ago. Please pray for the Lord’s richest blessings upon the new
ministry of Ruben Zartman as well as the continuing ministry of Rev. Alpuche in
Central California. Both he and Heidi are greatly missed.

Outreach Ef for ts During these summer months, we continue our outreach efforts to the Spanish-speaking community. Hector and Sonia Martorell (regular visitors of El Pacto) have a Bible study on Tuesdays and Fridays at their coffee shop. I have been teaching the Tuesday Bible study on a biweekly basis. Please pray that all of the participants would worship with us at El Pacto. We just recently completed a Saturday evening Bible study in downtown Chicago Heights where we taught Guilt, Grace and Gratitude. El Pacto de Gracia has offices in Chicago Heights which were recently renovated for the Bible study.
As the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation is being celebrated throughout this year, I was invited by Divine Hope Reformed Seminary (DHRS) to lead a Spanish conference on the 5 Solas of the Reformation at Danville prison on June 14th. I gave a lecture on Martin Luther’s 95 Theses. I also explained 3 of the 5 Solas (Christ Alone, Grace Alone, God’s Glory Alone). Two DHRS students gave presentations on Scripture Alone and Faith Alone. At the conference, we had 18 in attendance. At the Spanish mid-week chapel service, we had 28 in attendance.
As we prepare for outreach efforts in the Fall, El Pacto de Gracia is partnering with PASS (crisis pregnancy center) to offer an English class at their Lansing office. Please pray for the 7 Hispanic families who are considering taking the class. This would be a weekly 90 minute class using the Bible to teach English. Please keep our ministry in your prayers. El Pacto de Gracia is very blessed to welcome the Garcia family (Cristian, Carolina and their daughter Micki) from Ecuador. Rev. Pablo Landazuri is their pastor. Cristian has already begun summer Greek at Mid-America Reformed Seminary. After graduation, he wants to return to Ecuador to plant a church. Praise God!
