    We are what we pretend to be,so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.

    do you feel it in your bones,IN YOUR BONES BENEATH YOUR SKIN

    FULL NAME;

    Eric Morten Lange

    I have a short name. It rolls off the tongue nicely, and easy to write which may or may not be a good thing. Ive yet to decide.

    NICKNAMES;

    Lozenge

    1. Noun - A small, medicated candy intended to be dissolved slowly in the mouth to lubricate and soothe irritatedtissuesofthe throat.

    Itwas used sparingly, hisnickname. He didnttalkto people long enough formore embarrassing namesto be adopted Ericcouldnot getany shorter withoutsounding like a grunt and he wasrelievedatthat. Hedrememberedthismonikeronly because of Euan. Eric had found his former friends exuberance endearing, once comparing himselfasa

    lozenge to his mates exhausting pride.

    AGE & DOB;

    Twenty-eight February 20th 1949

    SEX & SEXUALITY;

    Male Heter Asexu Not Sexual Enough

    His interest in relationships was microscopic. His interest in promiscuity was even smaller. Eric did not see himself with a significantother in the present or future. That form of love was not necessary to him.Im well enough without it. Is there a reason why I should start now?

    the blood that flows within,I THOUGHT IT WAS OBVIOUS

    HAIR;

    Ive beenkeepingitreasonably short, neverreaching pastmychin. Dodger Dorquincouldntcatchthe GoldenSnitch last year,

    whatwiththe dustmopontopof his head. Granted, itisDork nothing more youcansayaboutthat - butanyprecautionsthatcanbe takenshould be.

    Hoursofpractice didnt doanythingparticularly well for his hair. Itbecame greasy during Erics busier days, stickingoutinall

    directions from minimalcare. He combedit back forspecialoccasions. The formal style made his head look like ablack helmet,whichonly made hisaversiontowards social events evengreater.

    EYES;

    There are twoofthem. Theyare browntheyare smoldering, too?

    The GoldenSnitch hadcalledthem blackcoalintheirreviewofthe Ballycastle Bats last year. Erichadtakenitin stride, butnotbefore silentlycorrectingtheir mistake his eyes were adeep brown. The faultwas understandable to him. Itwasindeed hardto

    concentrate onthe Beater whenmore amiable menwere onthe field. Whenever he wasonthe pitch, Erics eyes subconsciouslyscrunched up. Itmade it look like he neededglasses, butthe sense of focus fromit helped himplay.

    BODY TYPE;

    Beingtonedalloverwasobviously somethingthat hadtocome withthe Quidditch job. Eric hadahardtime keepinga Beatersbody. He naturallycarried more weightaroundthanothers, and slimmingdownto sinewy musclestook more workthat hed liked.Butit made himproud, his body. Erictook silentpride inthis, knowingthat muscles somehow made him desirable.

    Iguessthe worstpart would be the diets. Theresonly somany egg whites youcan eat before it looks like glue, or evenworse.One of myguiltypleasuresis justthinkingofgrabbinga bagofcrispsand justgoingtotown.

    DISTINGUISHING FEATURES;

    Fansalwayscome uptome and screechabout howthey expected me to be taller. Why shouldit matter? Igetthe job done,regardless.

    Ericstill sports scars from his youth. Bludgers were and stillare nastythings, and made considerable damage should hemiscalculate. Mostofthe injuriesare pepperedalong his forearms. They stoodoutagainst histanned skininthe formofpale tallymarks.

    Duringhis firstgames withthe Bats, hed followedthe teamtraditionofgoing unshavenwheneverridingawinning streak. It hadinstilledasense ofteamworkintoEric, but he immediatelyoptedoutofitafter lookinginthe mirror.

    There wasreallynothing handsome about Eric; his features were straightand long, fortunatelynotcrooked. He rationalizedthattheappealabout him was simply false awe. It was easierto expressaffectiontowardsa famouspersonasopposedto someone who

    scrubbedthe floors. He kept himselfclean. He wore tailoredclothing. Nature hadnotdone anything spectacularon him;it wasonlyfame workingits magic.

    Nimbus 1001

    The Nimbus Flying Company was able to grab complete control over the flying mar ket with their models. Although pricey, a Nimbusbroomstick can always be trusted. A more stream-lined version of the 1000, the Nimbus 1001 recently fell behind with theintroduction of newer models.

    There are certainly more innovative brooms on the market right now, I will not deny that. Since when, however, has a trulytalented athlete relied on technology? Skills better than any lightweight model out there. Anyone who tells you otherwise is a bloc k.This particular Nimbus model appeals to me. We accompany each other. I have no intentions of switching it out for something

    newfangled.

    Thirteen inches Cedar Unicorn HairMine is longer than Zellers. How is that for an innuendo?

    AMORTENTIA:

    Theres a fair share of crazy nutters out there, so I have had unfortunate encounters with amortentia. Clean sheets and broomstick

    polish were pretty obvious. It was strange to smell rubbing alcohol, though. I guess childhood memories dont go away too easily.Though I could be wrong it is hard to remember what you smell when a few seconds later youre thinking about licking a manwith buck teeth.

    GOALS:

    PUMMEL ZELLER TO THE PITCH GROUND long termNot a very surprising wish, this one. The Magpies are our biggest opponents. There doesnt need to be anything personal behindmy desire to see him in the dirt. For all anyone needs to know, its just pure manly - competition.

    His greatest goal stemmed from prejudice. Eric felt betrayed by his friend. When their lives had been so deeply entwined, he hadfelt confident in knowing that their friendship would last. Euan was the closest thing to a brother that he had. Their pact to staytogether only emphasized the tight-knit closeness they shared. When a Zeller popped up in the wrong place, though, Eric knew

    that what he had with Euan could not possibly last.

    Eric sought for satisfaction. He wanted revenge (to put it lightly) for what Euans errors. He believed that once Euan was put in hisproper place, things would truly be right. Eric dismissed his other emotions towards this belief. Those emotions were conflicting ;

    they made what should have been a simple goal complicated. They occasionally whispered to Eric, telling him what could only betrue. Achieving revenge against Euan would not bring either of them happiness. Instead, it would hurt.

    PROTECT SISTER FROM PREDATORS short term Long term.There is no limit to the lengths Ill go for Julia when it comes to men. Iknow what Im like. I also know what my mates are like.

    None of us are suitable for my sister. If it means sleeping in between her and some nitwit, escorting her to the market, hiding thetissues so she can stop stuffing her cleavage, whatever; Im willing to do it.

    AVOID BEING IN BUTTERBEER COMMERCIAL short term

    Our team managers been in talks about getting all of us into a commercial. Youknow, the one with Barny the Fruitbat? Im justbatty about Butterbeer? I think its already bad enough to have a bat endorsing alcohol. I mean, really whatkind of message isthatsupposed to be?

    END WITH A BANG long termNone of my teammates wants to be a has-been. Who really wants a fan base composed ofsixty-year-olds in wheelchairs? I wantthe glory. I want the glory thatyou can taste with no effort at all. Then once its in my grasp I want to steal it. I want to be asmiling face in the Quidditch Hall of Fame. Not an elderly lunatic on the front of a cereal box. That wo uld be a waste of a life.

    BOGGART:

    AFRAID OF?

    DEMENTOR:

    WORST MEMORY

    PATRONUS:

    Idont think Ishouldsay.

    Eric often haddifficulty producing a corporeal patronus. When he finallymanaged one, the creature elicitedlaughs fromhisclassmates. Needless to say, the hen disappeared after a fewseconds. Henssymbolized patience and protective instincts whichwere evident through their tendency to hoard eggs (a fact thatseveral boys jabbed at Eric). The hen is also prone to beinginfluenced by outside factorsmore than others.

    He thought of the victorieshe and Euan had nabbed for Gryffindor. It washis golden age their golden age.

    MIRROR OF ERISED:

    He was already at the peak ofhis Quidditch career. With the success of it came a prospective future. Eric was confident in stickingwith the idea of never working once hed retired. To him,money which entailed a home and other necessities was enough. Hisfamily was not perfect, but neither washe. There was no reason for him to want anything.

    If Isaid it three times, ithas to be true.

    Itshamedhim thatlooking into the Mirror would be surprising. Instead ofa single person, there were four. There was no hesitation

    in recognizing her sister; no matter how annoying,he knew whatshe lookedlike. It was the other two that irkedhim. They werebothmen. Euan casually punched Erics arm while sharing withhim a familiar smile. The other man hadhonest,solidfeatures. Heheld Julia in a protective embrace that wasfar from casual.

    The image painedhim. The thing that Eric wantedmost whathe could notdeny was also whathed alwayswished to avoid. Itwas impossible to imagine a mended relationship for him, and even more impossible to imagine a person worthy enoughfor hissister. He couldnt possiblywant that.

    If Isaid it three times, ithas to be true.

    YOUR CHARACTER IN FIVE WORDS;

    Intuitive, earnest, reserved,self-assuring,direct

    LIKES;

    Muggle BooksYouknow those non-fiction ones? People dont expect me to take an interest in things outside of the pitch. Reading about theFrench Revolution andproletariats in Russia is oddly entertaining.

    ModestyIm not the mostunderstated man out there have youseen me? but there is no reason to flaunt everything. Only the ones whotry too hard are the ones with no talent whatsoever.

    HoroscopesIt is the onlypart of the newspaper Ill ever read. Theyre entertaining at the veryleast. Ilike to know what to expectduring theday ahead.

    CleaningThe methodic process ofwiping windows andscrubbing dirtfrom tile grout is my guiltypleasure. My teammateslike to referenceme by cleaner brands. When one ofthemsays Miss Periwinkles Dry-Away, Iknow that its me unfortunately.

    Being Left AloneI enjoy the solitude. When you have a profession that requires rubbing shoulders, it getspretty exhausting. I get tired ofpeople.Does that make sense? There isnt necessarily anything wrong with them;some time by myself is always a good thing, though.

    Simplicity

    Wouldnt everything just be some much easier when theyre all black and white? Idont want to work throughsomething. It is anunappealing concept.

    DISLIKES;

    Having His Picture Taken

    I always manage to lookoff. Myface looksloopy in that recent interview with Beaters Bite.

    Eric did notfind the sport itselfhorrible swinging at ballsfor a jobwas easy enough. However, Quidditchhad governedhislifemore than he hadwanted it to. Atfirst ithad been an amazing gift; bringing himfriends andmoneywithlittle effort. He could notforgive the sportfor itsfaults, though. Quidditchhad broughthim and Euan together buthad also torn them apart. To him, the cost

    thathad come withfalse friendship was too much.

    He knew that there was nothing else thathe wanted to as a profession. There was nothing else thatwouldsatisfy Eric more thanQuidditch. However, there were pointswhere he questionedhisfaith. Flying was the only thing thathadstuckwithhim after so

    manyyears. He thought itwas enough ofa reason to live for it;losing a friend and any chance for normalcywent against the

    theory. Perhaps in the end itwas just easier to quit.
