ELBURN DAYS 2014 AUGUST 15, 16 & 17th
Chairman’s Message
In 1917, a Chicago businessman, Melvin Jones, had a dream. He challenged members of his local busi-ness club to look beyond the business issues of the times, and find other ways to contribute to society.
Flash forward almost 100 years, and what Melvin Jones began has evolved into Lions International, the world’s largest service club organization, with 46,000 clubs and over 1.3 million members world-wide.
On behalf of the Elburn Lions Club, I welcome you to the 2014 Elburn Days Festival, a three-day festival held every August on our grounds, Elburn Lions Park. We hope you’ll come down, relax, recharge and enjoy yourself.
When you come down to Elburn Days, you are supporting the largest fundraiser of the year for the Elburn Lions Club. The proceeds from the festival provide us with the financial means to fulfill our charitable mission in the Kaneland area, around the
country, and sometimes around the world. We all have dreams and ideas. What we make
of them becomes our legacy. For Melvin Jones, his dreams and vision have spread across the planet, and provide the inspiration for the 2014 Elburn Days theme, “Anything is Possible When You Follow Your Dream.”
Pasta dinners, bingo, literacy programs, service dogs, safety camps for kids – these are dreams of service, turned into reality at the Elburn Lions Club.
Thank you for your past and future support of Elburn Days. With your help, we are able to serve in the community and make our mark on the world.
Best regards,
Lion Dave BrozPresident, Elburn Lions Club, 2013-14Elburn Days Chairman, 2014
