Kaur, a UP student from India and discussed languages.

How many languages do you have in In­dia? We have 29 languages, but 19 of those are formal languages.  What is the most popular language? Hindi, because it is the national language.  Are the languages similar? No, they are totally different.  How can Indians communicate with other Indian people if they don’t speak the same language? They have to speak Hindi, which is almost known by every Indian, because it is taught in schools. 

What language is used in the Indian movies? Hindi, to be easy for everyone to under‐stand.  What is the hardest language in India? In my opinion, I think Guajarati is the hard‐est one.  What language do you speak? Punjabi.  Is it difficult to learn? It depends on the person, but maybe if he doesn’t study deeply beyond the basics , it will be hard.

This session, Adv. II students Issa (Togo), DK (Korea), Ali (Saudi Arabia), Kahtan (Yemen), Sean (Korea), Mansour (Saudi Arabia), and Ayaka (Japan) surveyed ODU students about their healthy habits.

Our group carried out a survey about how ODU students spend time in regards to their health. 

   We surveyed 100 ODU students about whether going to gym 

or not, and found that more than 60% go to the gym to keep in good shape and spend 1 hour, on average, in the gym. 

  Among them, 40% work out in the gym 3~4 times per week, which is much more than we thought before doing the survey. The following are some opinions from ODU students.    Bryan (sophomore, major in business marketing) said that he goes to the gym to play basketball at least 3 times a week. Also, he said he plays soccer, lifts weights,  and other exercises, such as curls, bench press and squats.    Christina (freshmen, international student) mentioned that the gym is very awesome, so she goes there twice a week to do Pi‐lates. Doing Pilates is a tonic for her life.  

  To stay healthy, they try to maintain a regular sleep pattern, at least 7‐8hours of sleep and 3 meals a day. They also often eat 

healthy foods that are high in  Omega 3 and vitamins. Moreover, some students avoid alcohol and tobacco, because it makes them feel bad. During the interview we met an interesting student who was a vege‐tarian; he hasn’t eaten meat and has hated high‐calorie meals since he became a vegetarian.  

  To put it briefly, wherever students live in, they always strive to  keep  healthy with  doing  exercise  and  eating  healthy  stuff;  even some people have their own style to keep healthy. As they are  inter‐ested in fitness, they are doing more work than we thought.

GRADUATE BRIDGE: If you have the opportunity to change something in the world, what would you change and why? Stop war anywhere and [get] people together to come up with solu‐tions to enhance their lives. (Sami, Libya) It would be the way people and countries treat each other. There should be no racism. (Amro, Saudi Arabia) I will change the way of studying in some of the dis‐advantaged countries and encourage everyone to read and read books. (Sarwar, Iraq) 

UNDERGRADUATE BRIDGE: What craziest thing you have ever done in the U.S.? The craziest thing is that Moe became one of my friends. Because Moe is the best friend I have ever had in the U.S. (Khaled, Kuwait) The craziest thing I have done in the U.S. is going to Univer‐sity as a 48‐year‐old. (Sevda, Turkey) 

I jumped from 15,000 feet using a parachute while sky‐diving. (Abdulaziz, Kuwait)  What would you do if you won the lottery? I would like to buy my own

ADVANCED I: What would you do if you have a time‐machine? Would you go to the past, or to the future, and why? I want to go to the past because of my first love. I didn't say to her "I love you." And I miss her So, if I have a chance, I will tell her. (Taejin, South Korea) Of course: FUTURE!!! I wanna see the world 1000 years after now. I wanna know how to change this world after I died. I also wanna see my offspring. (Ayano, Japan) PAST!!! I want to see history. I want to touch dinosaurs. (Shiori, Japan)  What would you do if I told you that tomorrow was the last day of your life? It's hard to think about it. I think I'll go to my country and see my fam‐ily for the last time and get married with the one I love. Then I will pray to be in heaven, then I'll just wait to die. (Afnan, Saudi Arabia) I would like to stay with my family and dog and eat Japanese food, especially sushi, and my mother's food. I also would like to see my

INTERMEDIATE: What you like about the ELC? There are many students from other countries.  I can study lan‐guages other than English from my friends, and make many friends. (Yuki, Japan) 

I like the ELC because it's made me know many things about English. Also I like the teachers, they are very friendly and they help us to learn many things. (Abdulaziz, Kuwait)  What country you would like to go to?  Why? America because I can not speak English well.  So, I want to improve my English. American speakers have natural pronunciation. (Mami, Japan) Ibiza, Spain—because Ibiza is a 24‐hour party. (Osama , Saudi Arabia) I want to go to travel in Italy. I lived there for 2 years. It is a very nice and beautiful place. I miss Italy. (Jisun, Korea)
