What is a subordinating Conjunction?

Subordinating conjunctions: are words such as because, before, since, until, while, although, or if. They are used to connect words, phrases, and clauses together.

Say these subordinating conjunctions with me.

Here are some sentences using

subordinating conjunctions:


• I would like to eat a taco salad because I am hungry for lunch.


•Genesis was very nervous to start 5th grade until she saw her teacher smiling at her.


•Mrs. Wallace needs to go shopping at Wal-Mart before she heads home from work.


•Alberto needs a new pair of spectacles since his first pair broke last week.


•Manny was reading a magazine at the doctor’s office while his sister was being examined by the doctor.


Sam’s mom said she could go to the Friday night football game if she finished her 2 page research paper.
