Dr. Jose Armendariz
Dr. Jose Armendariz was raised in Oklahoma and spent eight years in the U.S. Army. He completed his Medical Residency with the Genesis Family Medicine Residency Program here in Davenport. After residency, Dr. Armendariz completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Summa Healthcare in Akron, Ohio. He spent time working in Wisconsin before returning with his wife to the Quad Cities. With regards to Sports Medi-cine, he enjoys the challenge of combining science and medi-cine to help individuals and athletes return to the activities
they like. “Many people don’t realize that about 90% of all sports injuries are non-surgical. As a sports medicine specialist, I can treat many conditions that don’t require surgery.”
Presentation Summary: Many people don’t realize that about 90% of all sports injuries are non-surgical. As a sports
medicine specialist, Dr. Armendariz can treat many conditions that don’t require surgery.
Whether you are a competitive athlete with an injury, an individual looking to begin biking
or running, or an employee with nagging pain, there are solutions available to help you re-
turn to work or play faster and maintain the active lifestyle you desire.

LAST WEEK – June 9, 2017 – Katie Powers; Mississippi Bend Trykes
Katie Powers, a pediatric physical therapist with Genesis Hospitals, gave a very informational pro-gram about the Tryke program that she heard about in 2015 and began a chapter in the Quad Cities. Ap-plicants from ages 3 to 20, with physical disabilities, apply on their website for a custom built tricycle. When the funding becomes available, volunteers assemble the units and present it to the child/patient in need. Three types are available: Foot Tryke, Hand Tryke and Hand & Foot Tryke. Forty one trykes have been distributed in the greater Quad City area. Each unit is fit specifically to the child receiving it.
Fifty five attended on Friday including Rotarian Duncan Cameron and Kim Danek, guest of Kelly Meyer. Sign-up sheets were available for the John Deere Classic, Installation dinner, Playground delivery and Moonlight Chase water stop volunteers. Please consider signing up on Friday to participate in these worthwhile activities. Jeff Ashcraft presided at the meeting, in the absence of President Helms. Patrick Ol-sen was the sergeant and collected $28 in fines.

Dear North Scott Rotary,
Thank you so much for the very generous donation of $1000 from your organization. We are so blessed to have such wonderful service organizations. Your generosity will go a long way in helping offset the expenses incurred in helping provide food for our area families in need. In appreciation-
