A the ummer' dut ha eled, I'd like to be the rt to thank each and every one of you
for your ervice to thi organizaon. I know that September brought ome new change, and
that ome of you may have felt they were unwarranted. But trut in me that any change that
i done i for the good of the Order. Some eem to let their emoon cloud their viion of
what we were put in thi Order to accomplih. Let me remind each of you that thi Order wa
built on the premie that it i nobler to erve than be erved. We hould never forget the importance of
loyalty to the brotherhood of Elkdom.
The apect and commitment to volunteerim hould not be lot becaue of the lack of fanfare or pub-
licity. Each of u ha a talent that can be put to ue. Pleae don't it back and wait for omeone ele to
take the rein, or to ak for your help. Intead , ak yourelf "what can I contribute? or how can I help?"
I know that everyone i capable of contribung omething no maer how lile or how much. Every bit of
help i well appreciated and you might even have a lile fun in the proce. Everyone like to come to
event, my hope for thi lodge i that more and more people will how their pride by pitching in and make
Gardena Lodge a tand-out in our ditrict.
Fraternally your,
Reyne Rocha - ER

ENF INFO Tish McCauley ENF ChairBIG thanks to everyone who has pledged their $10 membership to ENF this year, and espe-cially to those of you who have contributed more than the minimum amount! Thanks to YOU,our Lodge has reached our Per Capita goal of $4.60 for this Elk year! If you havent done soyet, it is never too late to pledge your $10 to join and get your Heart on Your Card! Contactthe office to join ENF today.
ENF provides most of funding that help supports Elks programs including Veterans, Youth, Major Project, andScholarships. In addition, there are several different types of grants geared toward Elks making an invest-ment in our communities. This year alone, Elks will invest $8.5 million this year in our communities throughthese grants! For instance, our Lodge recently used the Gratitude Grant from last Elk year to donate $2000to the Fresh Rescue Food Bank. If you are aware of a need that we might be able to meet with one of thegrants, or if you would like to join the ENF committee, please let me know. It should be noted, each grant hasvery specific parameters that must be met, and include Elks member participation in the programs. You canlearn more about the specifics for each type of grant by referencing the ENF section at Elks.org, or pick upone of the brochures in the Jolly Corks. The more you know
Most of us joined the Elks to be a part of something bigger than ourselves, and ENF provides each of us asimple and inexpensive opportunity to make a difference in a big way. Dont let this opportunity get past you.
Thanksgiving Food DriveChallenge
We support the food pantry all year long, but at this time of year
its even more important to help those in need.
From now until Thanksgiving, Please collect and bring items to
Wednesday night meetings so we can stock the shelves of the
food pantry.
New member Karen Yoshikawa-Garcia is heading up this chal-
lenge. She has been calling family members and friends and col-
lecting food item donations for the past month.
Lets all follow suit and truly make a difference here.
