    Asthe lightsdim andthesevenmembersofStreetlightManifestowalkonstage,EmersonSuitesfillswithrapturousap-plause.Tecrowdsurgesforward,handsintheair,anticipatingthebandsfirstnotes.Secondspass,tensionreachesafeverpitchandthecheeringdoesnotwaver.Ten,suddenly,atrumpetblares.Te crowdexplodesinto

    commotion.Aglanceto eithersiderevealsthegrinningmugsof

    themorethan700 spectators,mostofwhichwill provetobeinconstantmotionfortherestoftheshow.Tiswas StreetlightManifestosperformance,whichtook

    placeFridayatIthacaCollege.It wasapublicconcerthostedbytheIthacaBureauofConcerts.StreetlightManifestois oneof themost largelyrecognized

    bandswithintheAmericanSka genre,havingbeenaroundade-cade.Teband hasearnedits prestigewith itsenergeticstagepresenceandeclecticarrayofsounds.Tebandmeshestrumpets,saxophonesand tromboneswith aggressivedrums andcharismat-icvocals,deliveringasignaturesoundthatcanonlybedescribedasStreetligh t.FreshmanJonYoskin,whoattendedtheconcert,saidthebands

    energyandcreativityiswhatsetsitapartfromothers.Teenergyoftheirmusic,howtheyincorporatebrassintoit

    thatssuchauniquesound,Yoskinsaid.AsFortyDays,offthealbumSomewhereinthe Between,

    openedtheshow,whatensuedcouldbebestdescribedasacoordi-natedseizureinbut afewbriefseconds,themassofonlookerseruptedintoashowcaseofjoyousdisarray.Bodiesbumpedbodies,whileotherspassedoverhead,surfingthecrowd.Inthe centerofthecrowd,fansskanked,a styleofdancethatiscommonplaceatskashows.Itfusesrunninginplacewithchaoticflailing,alternat-ingarmsandlegsforwardandback.Tedancersultimatelyformacircleinthecrowd.Whatresultsisanexplosionofspiritthatleavesaudiencemembers constantlyin motion.Withsuchanuproariousdisplay,thechurningthrongof fans

    initiallydauntedsomeconcertgoers,whodid notexpectsuchariotousoccasion.Tisbeingsaid,thecrowdnevertookaviolentairtheattitudewasquitetheopposite.Anyattendeewhomayhavelosttheirfootingintheforaywasswiftlyliftedtotheirfeetbyahuddleofcaringfans.ItsanattitudefreshmanDaniPasquarellisaidshe appreciated.Everyonewouldlookoutforpeoplelikeme,Pasquarellisaid.

    Everyonewasgoingcrazyandhavingfun,buteveryonewasstillprotectiveof everyoneelse.Evenwhen themusic ceased, theconcertsvivacitynever

    wavered.In reality,the lullsinbetweensongsprovedtobe justasenjoyableas themusic,thanks tothe charismaStreetlightManifestoexudedonstage.omasKalnoky,thebandsleadsing-erandguitarist,frequentlyaddressedonlookerswithfamiliarity,

    crackingjokesandreachingouttothecrowd.Roughlyhalfwaythroughthe set,Kalnokyaskedthecrowd,

    Whowantstohearonemoresong?Tequestionwasansweredwithuncertainapplause,asiftheentirecrowdcollectivelythought,Teresnowaythiscouldbeit.Kalnokywagered anotheroffer.Whowantstohearsevenmoresongs?heasked.Tisalternativereceivedafarmorepositivereaction.DuringthesongMomentof Violence,thebandwas vibrant,

    movingwiththemusicandvisiblyenjoyingeverymomentoftheperformance.Terewasacertainsatisfactionfansgotfromwatch-ingthebandplaythememberspassionwaspalpable.FreshmanAngelaAsala,whosaidshetookprideinsecuringaspotforherselfatthefrontofthemob,saidthebandspassionwasondisplay.Everythingwasjustso there,Asalasaid.Youcouldjusttell

    thateverything,[thebandmembers]werejustcompletelyinit.Tisshowcamejustbeforethe beginningof Streetlight

    ManifestosEnd ofthe Beginningtour,whichofficiallybeginsApril25 inParis, France.Oncethetour concludesat theendoftheyear,the bandwillceasebeinga full-timetouringband,atitleithasheldforadecade.However,evenattheendofitstouringera,its apparentthemembershavenot evenslightlylosttheirtouch.TetracksWatchit CrashandA BetterPlace,A Better

    imewereparticularlymomentous,drawingsomeofthebiggestcheersofthenight.Alltheperformanceswereastonishinglytight,andeverysongintheset wasplacedperfectlywithinthesetlist.Streetlights eamlesslytransitione dbetween eachtrack, producingafluidlisteningexperienceandmakingsurethecrowdsvitalityneverslumped.TegroupsfamoustrackKeasbyNightsmadeanappearance,satisfyingthecrowdscravingforfanfavorites.Intermsofsound,a decadeoftouringhasbynomeanshin-

    deredthegroup.Simplyput,eachaspectof theband vocals,drums,guitar,brassandbasssoundedpracticallyin-studio.Sadly,aswithanyconcertexperience,theshoweventuallyhad

    toend.Te banddelayeditsdeparturewithanencore,leavingEmersonSuitesinthewakeof itssong,TeBigSleep.However,theroughly90-minutesetdidleaveabittobedesiredandleftsomewonderingwhythegroupdidnotrounduptothetwo-hourmark.Tatsaid,it wasno doubttheconcertwas arousingtime.

    Tevibrantdisplayfromfansand bandmemberswillkeepat-tendeesreminiscinglong afteroverthatone timeStreetlightcametoIthacaCollege.Asalawasoneofthemanywholeftsatisfiedwiththebandsperformance,praisingitwith astreamofselectadjectives.Itwasthemostincredible,sweaty,loud,awesomeexperience

    ofmylife,shesaid.
