Explanations concerning Draft Amendment ÖNORM EN 13586/A1

The present Draft European Standard EN 13586:2004/prA1:2007 has been submitted to CEN members forvoting. In case of a positive result of the voting as required by CEN/CENELEC regulations, this Amendment

will be incorporated in EN 13586:2004.

With the exception of the Amendment included in the present Draft, the content of the basic documentEN 13586:2004 remains unchanged.

Interested parties can acquire the above mentioned basic document from the Austrian Standards Instituteand/or consult it free of charge.

Like all member organizations of CEN, ON is basically obliged to implement European Standards in Austriaand to withdraw conflicting standards.

ON herewith submits this Draft Amendment of a European Standard as Draft ÖNORM to public enquiryand information.

Since a German translation is not yet available, the English version of EN 13586:2004/prA1:2007 is submittedto public enquiry and information, in order to observe the deadline fixed by CEN.

This draft amendment is submitted to CEN members for unique acceptance procedure. It has been drawn up by the Technical CommitteeCEN/TC 147.

This draft amendment A1, if approved, will modify the European Standard EN 13586:2004. If this draft becomes an amendment, CENmembers are bound to comply with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations which stipulate the conditions for inclusion of this amendmentinto the relevant national standard without any alteration.

This draft amendment was established by CEN in three official versions (English, French, German). A version in any other language madeby translation under the responsibility of a CEN member into its own language and notified to the CEN Management Centre has the samestatus as the official versions.

1 Modification to Annex ZA

Replace the existing Annex ZA with the following :

Relationship between this European Standard and the EssentialRequirements of EU Directive 98/37/EC

This European Standard has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission and the European Free Trade Association to provide a means of conforming to Essential Requirements of theNew Approach Directive 98/37/EC amended by 98/79/CE on machinery.

Once this standard is cited in the Official Journal of the European Communities under that Directive and hasbeen implemented as a national standard in at least one Member State, compliance with the normative clauses of this standard confers, within the limits of the scope of this standard, a presumption of conformity with the relevant Essential Requirements of that Directive and associated EFTA regulations.

WARNING - Other requirements and other EU Directives may be applicable to the product(s) falling within the

scope of this standard."
