Providing the intell igence to make
informed decisions.
We’ve been at the forefront of utility
analytics, and the African leaders in
forecasting electricity demand, since
the late 1990s.
Our specialist team comprises highly experienced and
qualified statisticians, IT professionals, engineers and
mathematicians who are passionate about scientific,
statistical and technological advancements to support
customer decision-making.
We manage extremely large data sets using state-of-the-
art agile concepts, with an iterative delivery process.
Applying these techniques minimises the traditional gaps
between modeller, client and end-user, to simplify
problems and solve operational challenges in the utility,
energy regulator, telecommunication and retail
environments.
Our utility analytics services include losses analytics
and revenue analytics, tariff impact modelling and
analytics, load forecasting, primary energy, network
planning, pricing, engineering, demand side management,
market intelligence, asset management, customer
services, visual analytics, multivariate statistics, time
series analysis, machine learning, correspondence
analysis, business intelligence, renewable energy
forecasting, and energy modelling.
Utility Analytics
Developing and implementing bilateral
contract and energy trading systems
tailored to utility/country requirements.
We’ve developed and implemented, and
currently support the trading systems of
a number of Southern African utilities.
l We implemented the first Short Term Energy Market
system for the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP) in
the early 2000s. In 2006, in partnership with NordPool,
we implemented the Day-ahead Market for SAPP, and
have supported and upgraded the trading platform
since then.
l We implemented Energy Trading Systems for Eskom,
NamPower and the Botswana Power Corporation.
l We developed a new Market Trading Platform for SAPP
in 2014, in partnership with NordPool, which included a
Day-ahead Market, and a Physical Forward Contract
and Intra-day Market for short-term trade.
l We supported the Gulf Region’s (GCCIA) market
development act iv i t ies through training and
implementation of a proof-of-concept trading solution
(Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait).
We’re the only company in Africa with an operational
energy trading solution in place, with international
energy trade volume of > 1 220 GWH/month.

base of automatically interrogated meters in
Southern Africa, having implemented Eskom’s AMR
system – Itron MV-90.
l We supported both NamPower’s and Electricidade de
Moçambique’s Itron MV-90 AMR systems.
l Eskom uses our ENYGMA Meter Data Management
solution, enabling easy meter data analysis and a
reliable data feed to the billing system.
l We developed the Load Studies Data Store, a central
master data management system for the South
African National Load Research programme.
l We developed and implemented the National
Measurement and Evaluation Centre (NMEC) Energy
Efficiency Measurement and Verification (M&V)
system, used to administer the nationwide DSM
initiative.
l Smart metering systems. Netinium universal
head-end system supports all smart meter types and
integrates into utility billing systems, e.g. Itron and
Oracle.
Energy Data Solutions Demand Response
Helping utilities manage peak demand,
and demand/supply volatility.
We’re at the forefront of demand response development
in Africa. Our flagship DRPro platform helps utilities
manage their demand response portfolios.
We’re specialists in quickly getting load
off the network when needed, with a
proven track record of success!

including consulting, software, integration, site
communications, site equipment and a day-to-day
24/7/365 operational service.
l Over the past 11 years we’ve developed and operated
the Virtual Power Station, used daily by the South
African system operator and Eskom, largest African
utility, to manage network frequency, and balance
supply and demand.
l Over the past 11 years our Demand Response
Operations Desk has managed over 1 500 MWs of
dispatchable demand response load and more than
15 000 demand response customer dispatches.
l We’ve dispatched over 150 000 MWs of instantaneous
demand response, and more than 1 300 000 MWhs of
curtailment demand response.
