Senior Management Meet
The Heritage Village, an eco-friendly resort with architecture inspired by the villages of
Haryana and havelis of Rajasthan at Manesar, was the venue for Senior Management's
meeting to evaluate and review the performance of the half year ended on 30th September.
Senior Management team comprising of Directors, Functional Heads & Zonal and Factory
Heads met for three days from 17th to 19th October 2008 to discuss and ponder over
strategic issues which would impact the company's business in the coming years.
Apart from serious discussions on the performance of the company, lot of cultural activities
were also organised for the participants.
A lot of excitement prevailed amongst the ladies as
they celebrated the Karva Chauth festival with much
festivity and enthusiasm.The main motto of celebrating
Karva Chauth Festival, celebrated specially in the North
India, is to wish for long life, well being and prosperity
for the husbands.
The Pooja was followed by a sumptuous dinner
organised on rajasthani theme at the Bara Handi.The
rajasthani songs and dance were equally enjoyed by all.
Lot of fun-filled activities and games were organised for the
spouses. Ladies also visited
places of historical importance
in Delhi like Red Fort etc. and
throughly enjoyed doing
shopping at Palika Bazaar and
Connaught Place.
A be-fitting farewell was organised for Mr.A.J. Rao on
18th October 2008 during the recently concluded half – year
review meet at The Heritage Village Manesar. Mr.A.J. Rao had
successfully led the South Zone of Everest Industries for almost
two decades.At the farewell, the team remembered some of the
nostalgic moments spent together during his tenure.

Your Views Matter
To strengthen the process of sharing company information
on achievements, performance, goals, targets, strategies and
most importantly, understanding employees' views, the
management held the second quarterly Employees
Communication forum on 11th August 2008 at India
Corporate Centre, New Delhi. Mr. M L Gupta, Managing
Director, chaired the Forum wherein local issues were
discussed. Over 85 employees from Head office and SBS
division participated in this forum. Mr. M.L.Gupta,
Mr. Manish Sanghi, Mr.Y S Rao, Mr. Manish Garg and
Mr. B Ram Mohan answered the queries of the employees.
This occasion also provided an opportunity for new joinees
to interact with
each other and the
senior
management.

an active
participation of the
employees.
Awareness CampaignHIV AIDS is one of most deadliest disease of the modern era.Though some
breakthroughs have been achieved in its treatment but the fact is that the
doctors are still struggling to find the definite treatment for this disease.
In our efforts to spread more knowledge and information about this disease,an
awareness workshop was conducted for steel business employees on 27th
September 2008 at Bhagwanpur Works. Ms. Monica Gupta from Smile
Foundation (an associate of Ambuja Cement Foundation) conducted this
awareness workshop.
This initiative of educating the employees on different topics is being highly
appreciated all around.

A one day in house training programme was
conducted on 3S i.e, Speed, Safety & Strength by Mr.
Surya Dev Sharma, Manager (Production) at
Bhagwanpur Works.Various topics such as safety
measures for welding safety in electrical operations,
general safety measures, change in mindset towards
safety and other environmental legislation were
discussed in detail.
Bhagwanpur Works has also taken an initiative in
recognising the department and the employee of the
month. Prizes for this segment towards the above
were given during this training program.

Everest always focuses on employee development programs.The HR department and the
line managers feel that it is their prime responsibility to identify skill gaps and organise
training programs to bridge this gap. At Everest, focus is not only on the technical
training but also upon the personality development programs.
In-house training programme christened as "Detailing and Draftsmanship" was
conducted on 30th & 31st August 2008 in Design and Engineering office, Delhi.A training
session was conducted by Mr. Nirmal Rana, DGM-HR, SBS division.A quiz was also
organised during the training and the winners of the program were suitably awarded.

prepared to respond in an
emergency. Being well trained in
FirstAid comes handy particularly in the event of a disaster.
An in-house training on the FirstAid was conducted by Dr. Arvind Bhardwaj
at Bhagwanpur Works. Training module included practical training to
provide first aid in different forms of injuries like electric shock,burns, road
accidents,bleeding,heart attack and others.Dr.Bhardwaj said many lives can
be saved if first aid is provided in time.

Stockist ConferenceThe Central Zone led by Mr. Rajesh Khanna,
DGM (Mktg.) had organised its Stockist
Conference from 19th to 21st September,
2008 at Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad.

Central Zone and the stockist getting
together, this event, christened “Mission
Growth” had all the ingredients to spur people on to the Everest’s next milestone of
achieving Rs. 1000 crores by 2010.
At a glittering award ceremony, the notable achievers were felicitated by awarding them trophies.
During informal interactions with the Zone and Head Office Senior Management represented by Mr. Subroto Dutta, the Stockiest
expressed their grievances as well as gave many valuable suggestions regarding quality of product and service.While appreciating the
services rendered by the stockiest, Mr. Dutta assured that their genuine grievances will be
looked into and their suggestions for improvement of operations are always welcome.

75th Annual General Meeting of Everest Industries Ltd.75th Annual General meeting of the shareholders of the company was held on 25th July’08 at Registered Office of the Company at GAT No. 52,
Taluka Dindori, Lakhmapur, Nashik. Mr. M.L. Gupta, Managing Director along with the Board of Directors presented the 75th Annual Report of the
company for the financial year 2007-08 and shared future prospects of the Company with shareholders.

A Blood donation Camp in association with Civil Hospital,Nashik was organized at Lakhmapur on 22nd October 2008.All the employees
including workmen actively participated in this camp and the total blood donors were 53 employees including Managers, Officers,
Workmen and also contract workmen.We thank all the 53 employees at Lakhmapur who donated their blood for a noble cause of
helping someone in need and thus saving precious lives. Editorial team congratulates Mr.A.K.Chakraborty and his team for successfully
organising this camp at Lakhmapur.

Winning safety slogans
It is a matter of pride that two of our employees are the winners of the 'Maharashtra
Safety Slogan Competition' organized by National Safety Council – Maharashtra
Chapter for 2008.
Mr. S.D. Deolekar, Junior Officer (Commercial) won the 2nd prize in English category
and Mr. Khurshid Alam, Plant Operator (Stock & Despatch) won the consolation prize
in Hindi category.They were awarded the prizes by Mr. Joshi, National Safety Council –
Maharashtra Chapter in a function organized at Mumbai on 20.09.08.

Everest Ladies Club, Lakhmapur celebrated Teachers day on 5th
September 2008 to commemorate the birth anniversary of our first
President Dr. Sarvapalli Radha Krishnan. On this day, Ladies Club
President Mrs. Anjana Chakravarti along with other members
visited the Zilla Parishad Prathmik School of Lakhmapur village and
felicitated all teachers by presenting them Shawl and 'Shriphal'.Later,
they distributed lunch packs to all school children.

Everest Ladies Club at Lakhmapur celebrated the Janmashatmii to
commemorate the birth of Lord Krishna. Families gathered in large
numbers and enjoyed themselves by participating in bhajan and other
cultural activities.The highlight being the breaking of ‘Dahi handi’ by
the employees children was enjoyed by all.
Joint Advisory Group's Meeting at Lakhmapur WorksA JointAdvisory Group (JAG) has been constituted comprising of Managing Director, Executive Director,Zonal Marketing Head, Factory Head and the
leading stockist of the zone. JAG would normally meet three-four times in a year and would primarily discuss various issues pertaining to marketing,
production and other related issues. Similar JAG meetings were held in other zone also.

At Lakhmapur, it is a tradition to celebrate all major festival as an extended
family. Shri Ganesh Utsav, being a major festival in Maharashtra, was
celebrated in week long programme from 3rd to 10th September 2008 with
lot of enthusiasm.On this occasion,rangoli competitions and various cultural
activities were organised in which all employees with their families
participated actively.

SurveillanceAudit on ISO 9001:2000 was successfully conducted at Lakhmapur
on 8th & 9th August 2008 by BIS auditor Dr. Devendra Mohan. The auditors
found the systems in order and appreciated qualitative & customer satisfaction
related improvements implemented in the Works. Based on the audit, he
recommended continuation of the license. The auditor also recommended
extending the scope of the licence to include the varieties of High Density Non
Asbestos Fibre Cement Plain Sheets and Solid Wall Non asbestos Sandwich
Panels.

Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm
at Lakhmapur with hoisting of National Flag by
Mr. A.K.Chakraborty, Vice President (Works) in the
presence of employees and their families. Security staff
participated in the parade.A family get-together was also
arranged in the evening.

How do you guide them to the future?
To address all these issues of growing kids, a workshop on 'Learning through
Adolescence- An interphase programme with parents' was conducted on 3rd
August 2008 at VedicVillage, Kolkata.The workshop was also conducted with
a aim to help the children in recognizing their inherent talents & skills, make
them aware about various options available in today's scenario and thus
helping them in choosing the right options.
The feedback on the programme was very positive and recommendations
were received for conducting such workshops on a regular basis.

Kymore Works on 17th & 18th July 2008.

them to the regional team and briefed them
about the Kymore’s achievement in the last
quarter and their future plans.
Regional issues were also discussed with
them in a meeting conducted with the
officers and the managers.
A musical evening followed by sumptuous dinner with all the Managers & officers was also arranged at the
main guest house. Mr. Gupta & Mr. Somani spent a considerable time interacting with every member
present at the dinner.
Mr. Gupta & Mr. Somani also visited the Everest Health club and appreciated the local management’s
sincere efforts in creating welfare facilities at Kymore.They also visited the newly made garden for the
children and inspected the facilities
available in staff quarters.

Indian Independence day at its Podanur Works in a calm and effective way.

Green Hands ProjectStriving towards a clean & green
environment, officers and workmen at
Podanur planted more than 100 tree
saplings in the factory area to make the
premises greener. Green Hands Project has
also been started at Podanur in association
with IshaYoga Organisation in which 10000
saplings would be grown in the factory and
handed over to them for further plantation.

environment friendly project by planting a
sapling.
RecognitionEverest has a tradition of recognising talent and academic achievement
of the employee's children.

Health CapsuleDiabetes is among the five top killer diseases in the world. India has over 4.20 crores
diabetic patients which is more than in any other country in the world.To help the
employees in understanding how a positive approach towards this disease can help in
combating this disease at large, our company in association with Sree Balaji Hospitals

(IGBC) is a representation of

industry comprising Corporates,
Government, Architects &
Consultants, Construction

manufacturers and Institutions.
IGBC is providing impetus to
green building movement in India.
Due to the sincere efforts of the
Council, India has become the
second largest country in terms
of green building footprint after
the United States.
IGBC is a part of CII-Sohrabji
Godrej Green Business Centre at
Hyderabad and Lead India (green
building rating organization) is a
Division of IGBC.
It was a conscious effort of
Everest Industries Limited to
promote environment friendly
products for Indian and global
markets. In the year 1994 our
Company had launched Everest
Boards and since then has
developed a range of products
with green attributes including
the pre engineered buildings.
Everest Industries Limited is now
a member of IGBC).
The design for Steel Building Manufacturing facility at Bhagawanpur in Uttrakhand State for
manufacturing Steel Buildings was nominated under the Production category, for Architecture
Design Awards held in the World Architecture Festival from 22nd to 24th October’08 at
Barcelona,Spain.The plant has been designed by MatraArchitects and Urban Planners.The design
has been short listed out of 700 entries received from 63 countries worldwide.Congratulations
to Mr. VirendraWakloo for creating a wonderful world class design.

It is tradition in the Everest to award the notable achievers for their outstanding
performance in the respective field. Mr.Anindya Ghosh, Sr Manager (Sales & marketing), SBS
division at East Zone was awarded a trophy for achieving the highest target in the last
quarter ended 30th September 2008. Mr. Manish Garg, President, SBS Division presented this
trophy on 17th October 2008 at The Heritage Village, Manesar.

To celebrate the festivals of lights i.e. Diwali, a pooja was organised at
the beautifully decorated Head office and SBS Office.
Mr. M.L.Gupta, Managing Director and other officers got together and
participated in this Pooja. All officers greeted each other and wished
for peace, progress and prosperity of the entire Everest family.
Everest had participated in the recently concluded Inside Outside Exhibition at Hyderabad.
We had showcased three major Solutions Designer Wall, Floor & Solid Wall Panels in this exhibition.Architects, Interior Designers including
household customers thronged our stall. Our stall got 1st prize in B Segment category in this Exhibition.The beautiful stall, as shown in the
photograph is re-locatable and is planned for installation
across other locations in India.A special mention was made
for the beautifully designed stall by all the visitors.
We have got very encouraging response and generated lot of
enquiries from potential customers.
