The PON (Passive Optical Network over wavelengths) Express 16 is the first transport platform to use a Passive Optical Network (PON) architecture to break the access bottleneck. Using Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM), the PON Express 16 provides cost-effective access to business parks, campuses, and multi-dwelling unit/multi-tenant units over a shared network infrastructure without sacrificing security or limiting bandwidth. Up to 16 customers can be simultaneously connected with each having up to 1Gbps dedicated, symmetrical bandwidth. Operationally, each Optical Network Terminal (ONT) is “colorless” which eliminates the sparing issue that plagues traditional DWDM systems and provides “plug-n-play” system provisioning. The PON Express 16 is integrated into other ADC products such as the OmniReach® FTTX Fiber Distribution Hub FDH3000S providing a compelling solution unique to the industry.

Next Generation SonetLoopStar® 1600

The LoopStar® 1600 is an advanced, next-generation SONET multi-service transmission platform that allows service providers to cost-effectively aggregate, deploy, and manage TDM and Ethernet services. With its compact design and ability to scale from an OC-3 to an OC-192 network, the LoopStar 1600 provides a low-cost, high-growth solution for adding services at the central office or at the edge of the network.

When used with the LoopStar 800 product, the LoopStar 1600 provides a cost-effective aggregation point for multiple subtending rings. The LoopStar 1600 also can function as multiple virtual Add-Drop Multiplexers (ADMs) for hub node applications. In addition, with its versatile cross-connect architecture and high port count, this platform is an efficient alternative to existing cross-connect systems that require significantly more rack space at two to three times the cost.

LoopStar® Metro 3600SONET Multi-Service Transmission Platform

The LoopStar® Metro 3600 is an advanced, next-generation SONET multi-service transmission platform that allows service providers to cost-effectively aggregate, deploy, and manage TDM and Ethernet services. With its compact design and ability to scale from an OC-3 to an OC-192 network, the Metro 3600 provides a low-cost, high-growth solution for adding services at the central office or at the edge of the network.

For Ethernet services to fully deliver on the promise of lower costs and higher reliability, remote management of the network becomes essential—especially as subscriber numbers increase. Remote isolation of troubles and performance monitoring are minimum requirements for carrier-class Ethernet service.

Service providers can now create an intelligent Ethernet management platform with ADC’s Ethernet Network Interface Unit (ENIU). Installed at the remote premise, the ENIU provides the demarcation point between the customer and carrier network. By providing the ability to sectionalize the network at the customer interface, the ENIU enables the carrier to remotely assess whether trouble conditions reside within the carrier or customer network.

There is major shift taking place in the mobile backhaul space. Voice and data traffic are increasing exponentially across cellular networks with a corresponding increase in the number of cell towers and the transport networks. ADC’s WorldDSL G.SHDSL modems are designed for copper cable-based Ethernet access needs of national and Global markets. Ideal for both telco and enterprise networks, WorldDSL products are capable of up to 5.696 Mpbs per pair (11.292 Mbps total) for true Ethernet access. WorldDSL products conform to international standards to ensure compatibility, performance and safety within your network environment.

Each WorldDSL modem is software configurable as a central office or remote, so any two units can be used for a point-to-point circuit. These modems can be deployed back-to-back or in a central office or an enterprise data-center based chassis. The modems are part of a fully managed system, interfacing with a VT100 compatible terminal or a PC. The units can be managed via their local craft port or a central management card installed in a CO shelf. ADC’s StarGazer, Windows or UNIX-based SNMP management software can be used to provision the system, collect alarm and performance data, and conduct diagnostic tests locally or from a remote management station. In any of these modes, the remote unit can be programmed and managed through the CO, minimizing travel to the outdoor or remote customer site.

The WorldDSL chassis is fully connectorized for a management card. The WorldDSL management card may be installed, enabling the entire shelf to be managed locally or remotely through a dial-up modem or Ethernet LAN. The management card is equipped with six Form C dry contact relays which are software driven to indicate critical, major and minor alarms. Alarms may be generated by any G.SHDSL modem or by the management card.

The QLX module is a fiber loop converter that provides cost-effective, reliable transmission of 4 DS1 signals, utilizing 6 Mbps optical DS2 transport, up to 20 miles. It converts four multiplexed DS1 signals into an optical DS2 for delivery over singlemode optical fibers. The optical DS2 is converted back to four DS1s at the customer premises. The QLX utilizes two fibers, with SC type connectors, and can operate in protected or non-protected modes.

At the central office, the QLX module can be used in an ADC Soneplex Loop Extender chassis or in an industry-standard 3192 repeater shelf (such as ADC’s Wideband 3190 or HMS-317/318) with an optional adapter. At the customer premises, the QLX module fits into either a two or four position remote chassis available from ADC.
