• Every year, our local chapter sends one or two volunteers overseas

• They work directly with local, community projects

• Our chapter also funds a long-term development project• (Our long-term volunteer, Danny, is currently

setting up an agricultural project in Malawi)

Preston, one of our 2007 overseas volunteers.

Worked this summer with a coffee farmer’s co-op in the country of Malawi.

Set up infrastructure for their coffee-processing plant (especially waste-water treatment)

• High School Outreach:• Conduct workshops in high-school classrooms, raising awareness

about poverty in Canada’s next generation

• Public Outreach and Advocacy:• Organize events that engage Canadians in the fight against poverty• Build relationships with MLAs and MPs to remind our government to

play its part.

• Fundraising:• Organize events to raise the funds that make our projects overseas

possible.

• Member education:• Learning more about the complexity of

international development
