FIVE TIPS ON HOW TO “BE”SUCCESSFUL IN COLLEGE

Be prepared Learn about your new school, teachers and classes to feel more comfortable. It is also a good idea to take a tour to become familiar with the campus.

Be organized Being organized is the most important skill for college students. Buy an organizer* to write down dates and information. It is also important to organize your money. Create a budget that has room for rent, books, food, travel, and entertainment.

Be involved A fast way to make new friends is to join clubs, sports teams and student organizations. Every college has lots of groups to choose from.

Be balanced It is easy to fall into bad habits when you are away from home for the first time. It’s just as important to take time to eat well, exercise, or sleep as it is to study.

Be responsible Being responsible takes work. Go to your classes, hand in your assignments on time and pay your bills. Many first-year students aren’t responsible and find themselves in unhappy situations.
