P.E ACTIVITY – WEEKS 3 & 4 ES1 & S1 STATIC BALANCES – I have included some new balances for you to try. They are a little trickier than our other balances. Remember these are STRONG & STILL – like a statue. Hold each for 20 seconds.

WARM-UP – Use a dice, or a pack of cards, or write the numbers 1 – 10 on paper to select a random number between 1 & 10. Once you have your number, perform the following actions.

squats burpees push ups

Select a new number for each warm-up exercise.

IMPROVE YOUR SKILL – CATCHING & BALL TOSS. These skills progress in difficulty. You do not need to be able to perform all skills perfectly, but should be aiming to improve YOUR consistency and confidence. Using a handball, tennis ball or another small ball, practise your skills from last week. Remember, the more we practise, the more consistent we become.

Revise & practise

● Toss the ball into the air and catch it with two hands. ● Toss the ball into the air and catch it with the same hand. ● Toss the ball into the air and catch it with the opposite hand. ● Repeat all of the above, but toss the ball with the opposite hand. ● Toss the ball into the air, clap before catching it with both hands, one hand, the other hand. ● Repeat and increase the number of claps you do before catching the ball – both hands, one hand, the other hand. Challenge yourself to clap 3 -5 times

before catching. Can you do more? ● Throw the ball into the ground and try to make it bounce above your head, before catching it on the way down. (both hands, one hand, the other hand) ● Throw the ball into the ground and try to make it bounce above your head and catch it with two hands – with palms facing down.

Remember to keep watching the ball up into the air and back into your hand
